As Tim said before the game "The cage is open, but the beast is asleep," which could be taken to mean the German's flattering to decieve so far this season, by showing promise to score goals but never quite managing it.
Instead, however, he was talking about his cock.
Darts are probably the poorest team in the Yau Yee league at present and have conceded a stack of goals. Ripe for the picking then? Of course not!
The first 15 minutes of the game was a real struggle as Darts played the offside trap very well, while the German defence looked a little flat-footed at times. In fact 3 one-on-ones with their strikers and the German keeper occurred in this period, with Alan getting back to cover twice and Stephen blocking the other.
Slowly, however, the German's got back into it, and as the offside trap was starting to be breached Will went on a 50 yard run.
Beating a couple of players, he went one-on-one with their keeper only to hit it agianst him when it was easier to score. Luckily the ball bounced kindly for Will and he slotted his second of the season.
The other incidents of the first half were the yellow cards. One for Wayne for kicking the ball away, and two for Haneef and Andy Dixon, both for talking back. When are we going to learn?
The start of the second half saw a more subdued game as the German's went looking to kill the game. Which they did when Tim sent a perfect through ball for Haneef (who was having one of his best games in a long time) to run through and score despite the keeper getting a hand to it.
The last 10 minutes were pretty ropey as Darts, who did try to play good football, went looking for a goal. Which they nearly got when clean through their striker struck his shot across the face of Stephen's goal only for the shot to come back off the base of the post and back into the grateful keepers arms.
So 2 - 0, the first time we've scored more than one goal in a game this season, and on to the next round, were going by our luck with cup draws in previous years we'll probably get drawn with South China.
