Zambeef has a wholly owned subsidiary called Zamleather Limited which
operates a tannery in Lusaka. The 5,000 hides produced per month by
Zambeef as well as 1,000 hides per month bought on the open market are
all processed at the tannery before being sold as finished leather on
the local market or at the wet blue stage on the international market,
mainly to Italy and Hong Kong. This ensures maximum return for Zambeef
from its by-products.
The
continued commitment to quality has resulted in Zamleather�s
products gaining an excellent reputation on the international market.
Zamleather is now a large non-traditional exporter with export
earnings of approximately USS1.4million per year.
