Slowly the Pernese people have spread far and wide, searching for more farm and grazing land, and protection from the still-falling Thread. The volcanoes which heralded the Red Star's approach melted the vast, icy plain far to the north, known as the Snowy Wastes. When Pernese farmers rushed to the fresh, rich new land, it was obvious a new weyr was needed.
SilverSmoke Weyr of the Snowy Wastes is that new weyr, holding all of the former tundra under its wings, and providing emergency patrols and wing support from its high, northern perch.
But this Weyr is unlike any other. It has two Weyrwomen, working together. This has benefitted the Weyr as well as the Holds in the Snowy Wastes. These Weyrwomen are Vilei, Rider of Golden Blue Pleqith, and Shiyara, Rider of Golden Kyrath.
