This is the class of powerful and violent magic primarily concerned with energy, affecting others minds and elemental magic, although if it's violent, the Mage will probably have it. They are very limited when it comes to fighting - and if they use non-magical armour, they will soon find themselves having problems casting spells!
    A Mage can use non-magical armour, but more than a couple of pieces will result in the mage starting to fail spells. If the total of non-magical armorur exceeds AC 0 then the mage will be totally unable to cast anything! (In general, two or three pieces of leather or one piece of bronze armour will probably be the limit). This includes ALL forms of non-magical armour, shields, helmets, and cloaks. Armour that dervies its benefits from magical effects, or is intrinnsically magical (and will therefore show up on a Detect Magic spell) does not affect the casting chance. Potions, scrolls, staffs and wands will not be affected by this. The 'score' command will report to the Mage how much their armour is interfering with their magic.
