The Arrest

Cuebiyar Jen

Jen was asleep in her office, her head on a pile of papers that had to be looked through, when the phone rang. The high-pitched bell woke her from a rather lovely dream about--well, do you honestly think she'd tell y'all if it was so lovely?

Groggily, she picked up the receiver to find that there was nobody on the other end of the line. With some curiosity, she rested the handset back down and prepared to continue her nap. A glance at her digital clock told her, however, that it most certainly was not time for a nap; she ought to be in bed at this hour.

Grinning madly to herself as she rose, she reminded herself that she should have been in bed hours ago. She tried in vain to wipe the smirk from her face. A few papers falling from her desk as she stood reminded her that there was work to be done: there were masterworks to review and proposals about the Amethyst Septa, there were notes from SianSeptas and Studè alike ... and there was no time. Being the procrastinator she was--not to mention, um, saucy thoughts ... she abandoned the office and stole through the quiet hallways.

In the next instant everything happened all at once. The lights went on throughout the whole building. An alarm rang, Images flew before her eyes. Fear--confusion--LOST. Someone danced around her. The hallway swirled before her, around her, behind and on every side--dizzy. Vaguely, she heard spoken words, those of a very proud feminine voice. Asking. Intoning. Jen didn't hear the questions. Her mind was deluged with thoughts, her own and not her own. She didn't know what under the Light was going on. Someone held her arm with just too much force. She would have channeled something awful against both her captors had they not worn the familiar red uniform of the Tar Valon police. "Can I help you, off--" she began.

"Are you Jennaea Rowan, formerly Sitter for the Purple Ajah within the White Tower?" the officer demanded impatiently.

Jen said nothing but stared blankly in the woman's face.

"Answer me!" The officer demanded as Jen found herself flung against the wall with flows of Air. So this woman could channel? And Jen couldn't shield her from the restraints.

"I am," she said with tight breath, "I am Ayenda Vera Jennaea Rowan- al'Sor, Lai an Cuebiyar of the Purple Tower. Please release me."

The flows still held her.

"I asked you nicely," Jen offered.

The ties that held her yet were not removed, but she was casually released from her position on the wall, landing on the floor in a rather scattered position.

With an unhidden shadow of repulsion and disgust, the woman replied, "Ayenda Vera Jennaea Rowan-al'Sor, Lai an Cuebiyar of the Purple Tower, you are hereby placed under arrest of the Tar Valon Police Department, courtesy of the Red Ajah." The woman continued to read her her rights as the bulky man placed her hands in regular handcuffs in addition to the flows of Air that held her hands in place.

As she was ushered outside to the squad car, Jen sent out a mental plea for help--if the alarm didn't wake anyone by now, it wouldn't. She hoped it had. As the car drove away, she watched Moiraine Damodred High School--now the Purple Tower and the only home she had ever really known and felt a part of--fade from sight. She only wished they knew where to find her.

SianStudè/SianSepta Kait, Mauve

Kaitlyn had collapsed into her bed, exhausted from yet another attempt to help Patty. She was beginning to doubt that Nynaeve al'Meara really had Healed stilling, as she certainly couldn't find a way to do so. Then there had been the new Studè to deal with. She had been so tried that she hadn't even gotten any dancing in at all today, which made her spirits sink even lower.

When the alarm went off, she was sound asleep. It took awhile for the noise to penetrate, and longer still for her to identify it. When she did, she leapt from her bed. She crashed into a small table on her way out. Cursing as she struggled into her robe and hopped painfully down the hall, she caught herself on a windowsill when she nearly fell. A few Warders were about, weapons in hand, attempting to discover what had caused the alarm. Ayenda Vera were emerging as well, one or two glancing curiously at the normally graceful Mauve SianSepta as they passed. The Nila and Studè who ventured forth from their rooms stuck together nervously.

Everyone was focused on finding an intruder inside, but it was Kaitlyn who saw, from her vantage point by the window, a familiar figure being dragged out to a car. She watched in shock as Jen was taken away by the Tar Valon police. Finding her voice, she turned to those present and announced in a shrill voice, "Mom has been arrested!" Mind whirling, she added, "Everyone, gather in the Studio! And someone find Patty!"

Davidson Gaidin

Sound asleep in the hotel room where he was staying after balefiring the last copies of the WOT Illustrated Guide Andor had in stock, Davidson flew up from his bed, rising before he was fully awake. Stumbling, he shook his head to clear the cobwebs and fog, and thought Something's wrong. Jen's struggling...and I want to know what the hell is going on. Creating a gateway to the entrance of the Purple Tower, he stepped through and entered, running to the Studio, where he knew everyone would be in times of trouble. Seeing no one there, he wondered if everyone knew. Pressing the intercom button, his voice was cut short as Purple Tower residents started pouring in through the many doors.

Surprised to see Davidson, Patty wondered how he knew so fast, and remembered that he and Jen were bonded. "Jen...she's been kid-"

"I know," he said. "I felt it as soon as she was abducted. And I'm going out to find her. Now." Loading his 9mm, he ran out to his nice little purple Prowler, jumped in, gunned the engine, and was off on a race he had to win...or else.

Eddie Gaidin

Lying in his bed, unable to sleep for the turmoil roiling in his head, Eddie was out of his bed in an instant when the claxon went off. He headed straight to Liagala's room, even though through the Bond, he could tell she was all right. Knocking, he waited but a moment for her to grant admission, then went in.

"I see you heard the alarm, Eddie."

"How could I not? Even if I hadn't been awake, the bloody thing would have made sure I was."

"I guess that's why they call it an 'alarm', huh?" she smiled. She maintained her smile, even knowing about the turmoil on his mind. "Let's go find out what the racket's about, okay?"

"Aye. After you."

Arriving in the studio, they found Dav already there. When the rest were gathered, they started a discussion, centered on the fact that Mother had been arrested. Chaos reigned in the room. While this idle, as Eddie saw it, chat went on, Dav left, intending to do something about the arrest.

Deciding not to let Dav go off into danger all by himself, Eddie looked to Liagala for consent, received it, and went out the door after him. Belting on his katana, archaic in this day and age, Eddie went out to his Ninja, kicked up the kickstand, and took off, accelerating to 110, hoping to catch Dav. He had a feeling that Dav would need all the help he could get if he planned to spring Mother. So be it.

SianSepta Nyna, Lilac

As Nyna realized that she has been fully capable to write a collection of novels thoroughly describing the view from the Grey Tower's window for the last three hours, she sighed knowing well enough that there was no other way to put it -- she was bored to death.

The Grey Sitter turned out to be a pleasant, though neurotic-looking woman in her late thirties, willing to talk about anyone and anything rather than about what was actually important. After a brief introduction, Nyna and Kelly were urged to sit down on Breanne Sedai's couch, and have some tea. In the spirit of being polite -- Nyna almost choked on the word -- they agreed, not realizing that it would plunge them into the dim and hazy fog of Breanne's childhood, adolescence, and adult nostalgic memories, and as far away from the Purple-Grey negotiations as Nyna only imagined humanly possible.

The last thing Nyna remembered before waking up just now and realizing the woman's still talking was Kelly's dazed look, pretty much like her own. Shaking off sleep, Nyna blinked a few times, and noting that it was waaayyy past mid-day, turned to look at the clock on the wall. Ohhhhh Light, we've been here all day... The thought trailed off in a wave of paranoia, and worry. Jen... Something's wrong!!! Nyna shuddered.

"Are you alright, my dear?" Breanne's soft voice was too soothing, too cozy, too comforting...

"Umm.. alright?" Nyna glanced at Kelly's dazed out face, and nodded. "Yeah, I'm fine.. Just fine." Light, I hope I didn't sound too harsh, stupid lack of bloody manners, flamin' etiquette, yuck! Frowning as if from a rotten fruit, Nyna gathered all she's ever been taught about politeness and gently, mind you, nudged Kelly.

"You awake, Kel?"

"Well, lookie at that.." Breanne's laughter seemed to be made out of honey and cotton candy. "Your friend here must have been too tired to keep up in the conversation..." Nyna almost snorted What conversation, you bloody woman, you've been rambling about your high school days for the last... "Perhaps it'd be best if we let her rest, wouldn't you say, sweetie?" "Sweetie"??!!!?!!?!!

Remembering Jen's and Patty's numerous lectures about cursing out loud just in time, Nyna gulped down her reply, and just nodded. "Sweetie" my foot! Still hoping to get something out of this seemingly worthless day, she opened her mouth.... only to be rudely interrupted by a rather loud knock on the door.

"Sitter, the.. ahem... people you sent for are here..." the voice was mocking, and bitter. Ohhh, that's it, all promises of courtesy are off!!! Nyna reached into the mind of the man behind the door. ~Warder~ Of course, a warder, what other men hang out in this rotten place?? ~~satisfied~~ what is he so happy about?? ~~revenge~~ Rev...??!! ~traitors to the White Tower will pay~ Nyna broke off the mind link, and barely held herself from gasping. "Traitors to the Tower..." ....them??

Nyna's mind raced, fighting through the fog of dizziness from her dazed state. O? Breanne must have kept us here all this time only to.. only to what??? Who would actually...

Turning abruptly, she glanced around the room for a possible way out. The window?? No, waaaayyy too high, even if she could jump, she'd break half of the bones in her body! Another door perhaps?? There didn't seem to be one...

"My darling, is there anything wrong?" Breanne's hand landed on Nyna's shoulder. "Perhaps you've had too much tea as well, just like your friend over there..." Blood and bloody ashes, I forgot about Kelly, we must get out of this.... "Why don't the two of us take a walk outside in my garden, that might clear your head up.."

"But..." Nyna struggled to find an excuse to leave... NOW!!! Flamin' diplomacy, never did no one no good!!!

"Silly child, trust me, it'll be alright" Flashing a smile, Breanne forced Nyna towards the door, pushing it open and closing it behind them before Nyna could blink. No, its not alright, dammit..

"Nyna Sedai?" Huh??!! "Sedai"?? What the... Nyna looked up, and her heart dropped down into her kidneys as she saw a group of the Tar Valon cops blocking the hallway of the Grey Ajah's Wing. The woman in the front repeated a bit louder this time:

"Are you or are you not Nyna Sedai formerly of the Blue Ajah??"

"Formerly" The word registered itself in Nyna's mind as positive.

"Yes, I have left the Tower......"

The woman interrupted her in the middle of the sentence.

"Nyna Sedai, you are placed under arrest for treason--betraying the White Tower...." What??!!!?!! "...and for terrorist gang-related activities...." Gang??? What flamin' gang, I'm... "Please hand over anyter'angreals you might have in your possession and follow us to the exit."

"Listen, there's been some misunderstanding, I have never..." This time, instead of being interrupted, Nyna felt the flows of Air holding her.

"Please follow us."

As if I had a choice... Light, whats going to happen to Kelly??

Nyna disgustedly glanced at Breanne Sedai's satisfied face, as she was being led out to the police car. The Grey Sitter shrugged, still grinning:

"I'm sorry m'dear, but no traitor of the White Tower is welcome in my home!"

Nyna decided she was definitely coming after the bloody witch as soon as she got out... If she ever got out...

Haplo

Haplo sat on the roof of the Purple Tower, a reformed high school, wondering what the commotion was. He looked down from his seat and saw Jen being thrown into a police car, "Well there's nothin new," he said to the dog, 'knew there was always somethin I liked bout that girl." The dog grinned at him, Master, you are just too damned ignorant and unrefined, no wonder you keep losing your women. "Shut up, damn dog, what do ya know bout it." Well, I was just thinking that maybe you should find out what's going on, Jen usually doesn't cause trouble like this, maybe she needs help. "I know, ya damn dog, ya don't have ta remind me, but I'll be nice this once, no beatin this time for ya," as he crawled over the edge and climbed down. The dog rolled his eyes at Haplo muttering something about stupid Patryns and having to doing things the hard way as he walked downstairs....

Haplo threw open the doors of the school and headed to the offices, "What the hell is goin on round here, feels like we've gone ta Hell in a handbasket." He began tapping his feet as the women stood there clucking at each other about what happened to Jen. Taking matters into his own hands, "WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON, DAMMIT....I WANT SOME ANSWERS AND I WANT THEM NOW." Seeing he was now the center of attention, he waited for his answers....

Anima Patty

Everyone who was present in the building was jammed into the Studio. The Nila and Studè were sticking fairly close together. And it seemed as if everyone else was talking. That was until Hap entered the room and yelled, "WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON, DAMMIT....I WANT SOME ANSWERS AND I WANT THEM NOW!"

Silence descended as all eyes turned to Haplo. Patty smirked and tossed him a salute. "Thanks Hap. I think we can get started now." Patty motioned for people to get settled. Some chose to find chairs to stand in, some stood by the walls. It's almost funny, Patty thought, we're so well trained as theatre people, we've instinctively made sure we can all see the speaker It was almost funny.

"Okay." Patty continued. "What we seem to know so far is that Jen's been arrested. I don't know what Davidson and Eddie hope to accomplish haring off after her, but we can't worry about them right now. What we need to do is account for the whereabouts of everyone else. Next, we need to find out what the charges are and who filed them. Then, we probably need to find a good lawyer." She gave a sigh. It was going to be a long night.

SianSepta Lia, Plum

Lia cracked her neck, after trying so hard to learn to sleep normal hours, she still couldn't grasp why she failed... "Mom used to feed me cookies and warm milk when I was little, maybe that will work now... "She walked to the kitchen, forgetting to be quiet and got her cookies, snacking on them she waited for the Microwave to finish warming her milk.. She heard a faint scuffle, and wondered if that mouse had returned, grabbing a broom, she crept into the hallway, finding not only a Mouse, but the Red Ajah Tar Valon Police Department.. Dropping the cookie she held, she slipped into the shadows, a neat trick she knew, but didn't channel, knowing they'd sense her... She watched helpless as Jen was carried off out of the Annex... and Lia knew she should do something, but if they knew where Jen was, they also knew Who else was here, And Lia's usual surprise, I can channel Saidin too wouldn't work... Lia once again wished Dieda was here, she knew everything, how to fix everything... The Doors slammed behind her, and she ran for the closest friend she had... Haplo.....

She banged on the door to the Hole, and Screamed for him to wake up...

Davidson Gaidin

Davidson was going about 90, thinking he could catch the mysterious abductors that way. Twenty-five minutes into the chase, he heard a buzzing, looked to his side, and saw Eddie, with a big ass grin on his face. Looking at his Jap-Crap "motorcycle", Davidson started to run Eddie off the road, with Eddie jumping on the Prowler at the last second before his bike flew off the road and blew up in a spectacular display of pyrotechnics.

"What the hell was that for?" Eddie screamed at Davidson, cursing while he relaxed in the leather seat.

"I don't believe in imports. Now shut up and buckle up." Davidson clasped his seat belt, while he saw a defiant look on Eddie's face, who just sat there unbuckled. Shrugging, Davidson put the pedal to the medal, and by the time the speedometer hit 150, Eddie wisened up and buckled up.

After another 40 minutes on the road, Davidson was getting hopeful. "I can feel her...we're getting closer!" Embracing saidin, he used the bonus of enhanced vision to look deep into the night. And right into some distant tail lights. "Hold on, Eddie, we're gonna have us a little fun...and soon!"

Nila Liagala

Breaking free from the huddled masses of Nila and Studè, Liagala stepped toward the front, where Patty was speaking. "I think everyone in the Purple Tower has gathered here, so we don't have to worry about them. What about those off on missions? Weren't Kelly and Nyna going to the White Tower to talk to Breanne? Are they okay? Do we have any way to tell? I hate to say it, but Mom will be alright. I'm sure Eddie and Davidson will follow her, and I can always find Eddie. Though it seems horrible, I think we have to leave Mom where she is for now, and concentrate on the others. I trust the two guys to at least keep track of where she is until we can get there. Does anyone know where to begin with finding Kelly and Nyna?" Blushing at her long speech, Liagala fell silent and waited for the replies. As expected, Haplo and Lia were the first to say something, almost speaking on top of one another. For the umpteenth time, she wondered why those two hadn't stayed Bonded. Well, I guess they had their reasons, she thought. Oh, well. They're not my concern. Getting everyone back safely is. People began giving ideas, and Liagala quietly stepped back, allowing Patty to take charge once more.

((Looks like we're missing a RP here... from what I recall of it Davidson almost caught up with the Reds, resulting some kind of shoot out on wheels and Davidson's crashed bike... I forget how that happened, but read on anyway))

Davidson Gaidin

Rubbing his shoulder where he had fallen on it, he smiled a bittersweet grin as Eddie stood up from the platform of air Davidson had channeled where he was to land. "Dammit! why do these things always happen to me?" Davidson fumed, cursing profanely.

Eddie smirked and said "That's what you get for junking my bike." He wiped the grin off his face as Davidson slugged him in the stomach. Doubling over, he couldn't believe what was happening. This was the first time he had seen Davidson lose his cool. Stepping back, he saw Davidson's face darken.

"We have better things to do than weep over our vehicles," Davidson muttered. "Now come with me or I'm leaving you behind." Opening a gateway to the outskirts, he said, "There's a car dealership around here. Come on." Stepping through, Eddie barely had time to get through before the gateway sliced off the heel of his shoe.

Trying to make up for lost time, Davidson cursed at his fortune. Today of all days, I have to forget my Tar Valon Credit Card, he thought. Speeding off in the stolen wheels, he yelled to the dealer he'd pay for it later. Fat chance, he thought again, feeling mean.

"Yo Davey! Stop!" Eddie almost screamed as Davidson's train of thought was rudely cut short.

"What?" Davidson wanted to know. Until he got Jen back, he didn't feel like he would ever get over this funk he was in.

"There! Look!" Eddie pointed to a short dirt road about a hundred feet back. "I thought I saw a car that looked like the one we were chasing."

Davidson reversed the direction of the car and pulled up. "Let's go on foot. Even though they think we're either dead or hurt, I don't wanna take any chances."

Eddie nodded in silence. Off they went, Davidson drawing his gun, then putting it away because of all the noise it would make. Eddie felt his medallion go cold, and saw a Power-wrought sword form in his hands. Remembering his own blade, he drew it and continued walking.

"Hey, Eddie, um.. sorry about that sucker punch back there. I don't know what happened." Davidson immediately felt better for apologizing for his misdemeanor. The good feeling went away as the feeling of a fist across his face entered his mind. Rubbing his sore cheek and swearing, he grinned at Eddie, who returned it. "Now we're even." They continued on to wherever this road may take them.

Studè Sredny
((As per time in the PT, he may not have been the one and only disturbed mind, but he probably was the most!))

Sredny stood up from the purple couch, and walked over. "Hmm, I figured running off after. . mother... while still a Studè would get me in trouble, so I guess I'll have to use my talents here. Anything I can do?" Patty looked at him for a moment. "Not really, the best thing you can do is lower confusion and get some sleep."

Sredny shook his head, "I don't need much sleep, its really a luxury."

"Well try.. . . Studè Vashtar, why do you hesitate when calling her mother?"

He glanced at her, and remained quite for awhile. "I guess it's because I never had a mother. Unless you want to call the Forsaken, Dark One, or possibly the true power my mother."

She sighed, "'I'm sorry, it was an ill thought out question. But you really should return to your room. Unless. . .you don't happen to know anything about computers do you?"

A grin cracked Sredny's face. "Lady, I invented them. You got one besides the piece of junk in my room or shall I provide my own?" She smiled, then lead him to where the good computers were.

"Excellent." He sat down and his fingers flew over the keyboard, accessing, bypassing, and jumping back from snares. "Son of a drunken programmer. I think I'm going to have to do this the old fashioned way."

"How so?"

"Just watch. Oh, and don't touch anything, and don't touch me. When I come back, just leave me where I lie."

"When you come. . ."

Before she could get any farther, Sredny shoved his hand into the electric socket and kept it there for several seconds, a twisted grin marring his features. He drew it out finally, and radiating light, jerking out of control, inched closer to the keyboard, then jumped and liquidized at the same time, flying into the computer. His view changed. He was moving at somewhere between the speed of thought and the speed of light, through the camera on the computer he watched the Ayenda ever so slowly gasp and turn, growing bored he raced down the lines to do what he needed to do before the shock wore off. He slid over lines, around programs, through bit streams, flying through virtual space. It was utterly indescribable, even by him, and he was not altogether altogether, he soared past the snares that had confounded him, and down links inaccessible, the computer monitor flew at incredible rates, but was always a second behind him, finally he came across what he was looking for, his mind stylized it as a giant red tower with lightning around it. He flew through, searching for information. Finally he received it and just stared, for several seconds in real time, an eternity in his time, shocked by the charges. He noted files on all others as well, and gathered them up, he was almost ready to go, when green light shot through where his virtual head had been a moment ago. "Blast it all, ionelectronchargers. I never should have invented those things." he grabbed the last files and shot out like greased lightning, green bolts following him. Abandoning stealth, he sailed over traps, either untripped because of him going in the opposite direction, or unable to catch him. Finally he reached home and slammed shut the connection, just before the bolts got there. He poured out of the computer, the files stood on screen. He still glowed faintly.

"What a rush" the gholam said, then passed out.

Back to the Purple Tower
