Let's suppose you're in a
terrible mood... Thinking of love,
and life, and of how useless everything is, and of how you should stop
eating so much ice cream... Close the windows if you live in one of the
top floors, and press 'play'.
Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye
(Cole Porter, performed by Simply Red) ~ I
love this one, but it always makes me feel like crying in the end. Be careful.
So Cruel (U2) ~
hehehehehe... This should be called Leticia's Song, you know... (only the
tragic part, of course;)
A Rosa (Pixinguinha,
performed by Marisa Monte) ~ Took me a while
to learn the lyrics. Pure beauty :))))
Disarm (Smashing
Pumpkins) ~ I don't like them very much, but
this one is absolutely perfect. I love the violins :) The lyrics are sort
of autobiographic, so it's really cool ;)
Insensatez/How Insensitive
(Tom Jobim, performed by Tom Jobm and Sting)
Dança da Solidão
(Paulinho da Viola, performed by Marisa Monte) ~
Another of those autobiographic songs... *sigh*
Adagio Molto e Cantabile
- Andante Moderato (Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 in D Minor Opus 125,
Choral) ~ Heavenly.
There's No Need To Argue
(The Cranberries) ~ Keep your handkerchief
at hand...
I'll Be Seeing You (Billie
Holiday)
Pillar of Davidson
(Live) ~ I don't know if it's just me, but
do you also have those songs you particularly like singing?
And then you figure that
driving around will probably make you feel
better...
I Got You Baby (no
matter who's singing it) ~ Pretty :)
Meu Erro (Paralamas
do Sucesso) ~ Soundtrack for BBQs ;)
I Need Love (Sam
Phillips) ~ OH WELL...
My Baby Just Cares For
Me (Nina Simone) ~ Cute cute cute :)
My Girl Josephine
(Supercat) ~ Don't dance and drive at the
same time. People in the other cars around you will raise their eyebrows
at ya, it's a pretty weird feeling.
Stage (Live) ~
I like his 'Woo!'s
Baby I Love Your Way
(Big Mountain)
Destination Anywhere
(The Commitments)
Crazy Little Thing Called
Love (Queen)
Hound Dog (Elvis
Presley)
Red Red Wine
You get home and take a shower...
Annie Mae (John Lee
Hooker) ~ Another of those pretty ones :)
Diariamente (Marisa
Monte) ~ Cool lyrics :))
The Midnight Hour (The
Commitments) ~ This one's also great to sing
while cleaning your room.
Air We Breathe (Alisha's
Attic)
Shoop (Salt 'N' Peppa)
And with a bit of IRCing
and MUSHing everything feels right again.
Hunting Song (Pentangle)
~ A kinda medieval sort of music. This one's
the most... the most... faery thing I've ever heard :)
Smooth Operator (Sade
Adu) ~ *yawn*
Molto Vivace (Beethoven's
Symphony No. 9 in D Minor Opus 125, Choral) ~
Forth, Eorlingas!
Brandenburg Concertos
(J. S. Bach) ~ I'm particularly fond of 1
to 4.
Braveheart soundtrack
~ Most inspiring.
And when the day is over,
all you wanna do is BE ALIVE!
Things That Make You
Go Hmmm... (C+C Music Factory)
Superstition (Stevie
Wonder) ~ Fun fun fun!!!
Desert Sand (UB40)
~ You tell me there's no darkness/While the
sun shines down on you/For every life that's lit with love/Many more are
racked with pain/You talk to me of sunshine/When it's pouring down with
rain
Jimmy Soul ~
Remember that film with Cher and Wynona Rider, 'Mermaids'? Remember that
nice, nice song in the end, when they're all singing and dancing in the
kitchen? This is it :)
Great Balls of Fire
(Jerry Lee Lewis) ~ Woohoo!
Take Me To The River
(The Commitments) ~ email me if you have
the lyrics, will ya?
Needles And Pins (performed
by The Ramones) ~ *laffs*
Lucille (Little Richard)
Jump On Top Of Me Baby
(The Rolling Stones)
Try (Just A Little Bit
Harder) (Janis Joplin)
Blue Suede Shoes (Elvis
Presley)
Cantaloop (US3)
I Will Survive (?)
You're The First, My
Last, My Everything (Barry White)
I keep with me a small notebook
where I write down things that come to my mind at times, and books I'd
like to read, and music people tell me about and that I intend to listen
to one day. I had heard about Loreena McKennitt a dozen times already,
but had never heard any of her songs. One day, when reading an Imladhrim
log, and later a message on the Imladris board by Caladaniel thanking McKennitt
for having made such a nice, elven song, I thought it was about time to
find out what her music was all about. Shopping with Dad and my brother
that same day, we casually stepped into a CD store, and behold! There it
was, blinking at me: Loreena McKennitt's 'The Book of Secrets'. Astounding.
Really. You should give it a try.
Oh, btw... The mentioned
song is 'The Mummer's Dance', track 2 of The Book of Secrets.
