Mission2

Someone to watch over you

The rest of the flight was fairly uneventful. Everyone was busy thinking about what had just happened and what implications it would have. After a while, Martin decided to put it aside, and he picked up the in-flight magazine. It had a very interesting cover story on Canadian whisky breweries.

(Boston Airport, Main terminal)

As the group walked through the terminal, Martin got a strange feeling of being watched. He looked around and noticed Leo was doing the same. Martin couldn't find anyone suspicious looking, except the Hare Krishna, but then again, Martin always thought they looked suspicious.

"Someone is watching us!", Jim suddenly said.

"We know.", Martin and Leo both replied.

"This is bad", Leo said, "I hate being one step behind!"

Meanwhile, a woman with a small child on her arm walked up to a phone booth and dialed a local number. The call was picked up almost immeditely.

["Yes"]

"The package has arrived."

["Good! We'll take it from here."]

"OK", the woman said and hung up the phone. She placed the child in a stroller and walked towards the Baskin-Robbins stand to get an icecream cone.

*****
Martin dialed his homenumber on the cellphone to check if there were any mesages. The phone cracked and hissed so much, he couldn't hear a thing.

"I'd better try the regular phones instead. The connection in here is terrible. You go ahead and pick up the rentals and I'll meet you outside, OK?"

He walked over to a row of phone booths nearby. Only one was taken, by a young dark-haired woman with a small child on her arm. She hung up as Martin passed her and walked over to the icecream stand.

Martin again dialed his home phonenumber. There were two messages for him: The first was from his mother, telling him his Great Aunt Edna had died, at the tender age of 93. Martin didn't even know he had a Great Aunt Edna! The second message was from an Undersecretary Quinn of the Department of Justice. He left a D.C. number for Martin and told him to call a.s.a.p. Martin tried the number, but he got no reply. "I'd better try again when we get to the motel", he thought. He made a mental note to call his mother too.

-------
Outside the Main terminal, two Tauruses waited for Martin. He got in with Jordan and Jim.

"Since this is supposed to be a training mission, we couldn't allow ourselves more than two cars.", Jordan explained. "I have had Jenny reserve us rooms at The Knight's Rest, in the outskirts of Boston. Unfortunately, due to the festival, we could only get three room. Martin, you and Leo will bunk together, while you have to share rooms with me, Jim."

[NRPG:]

All: I took the liberty of adding a festival to the plot. What kind of festival? I don't know - anyone? BTW, one of the real Knight's Rest motels is located near the coast between San Francisco and LA.

Alton: What time of year is it, in the mission?

Kind Regards,

Krister Persson
