Jim nodded as he entered the rear of the ambulance. Meanwhile, Leo
looked
around with a bemused look on his face.
"What's up, Leo?" Jordan asked the smiling agent.
"Ummm... I'm not sure how to say this but, how are we getting there?"
Leo
asked pointing to the spot where their cars were supposed to be. "It
seems as
though we're carless."
Jordan then noticed what Leo meant and laughed. "Well, this is New York
City,
there should be a cab about."
As they walked to the curb, they suddenly saw a large semi roll up in
front of
the Subway entrance. Out of the back, several men in contamination suits
and
flamethrowers exited and went into the tunnels.
One of the men stopped next to Jordan and pulled the hood off his
contamination suit. He appeared to be of oriental descent and Jordan
thought he looked familiar, "Congradulations Agent Stern. You have again
been sucessful in solving our problems."
A spark of recognition crossed Jordan's face and he began reaching for
his gun, but the flame thrower nozzle snapped in his direction.
"Who the hell are you?" Jordan demanded.
"That's not important. Your life is. I suggest you go have a beer and
celebrate a job well done. I have work to do."
"What about the project?" Leo cut in.
The man turned toward him and said flatly, "The results will be
reviewed." He put the hood back on his suit and trotted into the tunnel.
"What was that all about?" Leo asked.
"I think that's his way of telling us that we've overstayed our welcome.
Let's get to the hospital," Jordan said heading toward the street.

[Billings Montana - Several weeks later]
"The house does need a little work, but, you have to admit, the price is
very reasonable," the real estate agent said.
Bill Richards, formerly Dr. David Kleinberg, looked around, and nodded
agreement. A fresh coat of paint would be required and he'd probably
want the carpet replaced as well. However, the house was sound,
spacious, and on an infrequently traveled side street.
The real estate agent saw him look over at his dog, it was the first time
she'd ever had a potential buyer bring their dog with them, and she
thought she saw something pass between them.
Sandy sat patiently by the kitchen door. She had gone on the grand tour
with the agent, and thought this would be acceptable as home. Somehow
she knew that Kleinberg would know that.
He nodded at the real estate agent and said, "Tell the owners I'll take
it for 90 thousand. It's a reasonable offer."
She nodded, "I'll pass that along. They'll probably accept."
They shook hands and headed for the kitchen door.
NRPG:
A fairly short post to wrap things up in New York. Sau Woon has to wrap
things up with Vanessa and then the team will be back to Washington to
await the next mission. I think the Crosses will probably be making a
return appearance.
