"I stand between the darkness and the light. I am shadow, and I walk the corners of the night"

You are shown down a large hallway walled in ancient oak paneling and decorated with medievevil style
tapestries. You notice an open door with the flickering of firelight illuminating the floor outside the door. You stop
and look inside. The walls are lined with the same dark oak paneling that lines the halls, and again there are old
looking tapestries, and shelves of ancient books. Placed around the room are various couches and
chairs.
At the far end of the room is a large fireplace, a fire buring merrily away inside it. A large armchair sits turned toward
the fire. In it sits a dark foreboding figure with a large leather-bound tome open in his lap. At the sound of your
foot-fall, the figure turns in his chair and gives you a long
look.
"Good evening" he says in a mild voice, though it hints at the presence of great power. "I was not expecting guests
on this night, but you are welcome to sit for awhile."
You sit down on a comfortable chair and look at the titles of the books on the shelf nearest you. They are what
appears to be original prints of Classic stories. "You like my books?" the figure asks. You stammer out a reply. "I have
been collecting them for quite some time."
"I should tell you that I have a few rules that I expect my guests to follow while they visit this place", he says in a
stern voice. "This room is not for fighting. If you have a dispute with one of my other visitors, There is a salle down
the hall,
fully outfitted for sparring. Take your quarrels there, for I do not wish any of my books to be damaged. Second, be
kind to the servents, they are my friends and deserve respect. They will serve you with a smile, as is their job, but
abuse them and you will find yourself ejected from this place."
"Sir?" you ask,"I did not get your name."
The Man frowns at you. "Oh yes, my name." he says finally, "I suppose it would not do to have you calling me 'hey you'
all the time. My name is Laereth, Laereth k'Leshya."
You nod and try to remember the name, for he gives the impression of having little patience for forgetfull people.
"One more thing." he says sternly,"you are welcome to partake of the knowledge contained in these books as long
as you
respect thier value to me and treat them well. They are here for the enjoyment of my guests, do not however,
try to enter my private library without permission."
You nod your understanding. "Now" he says, "what has brought you to my humble abode on this stormy night?"
