* NEW *   FORMULA ONE DEMO  (4.4MB- Rush compatible) 

The demo for FORMULA ONE has finally been released and about time too. Before you buy check out this demo - some people love the game some hate it.

* NEW *   NEW 3DFX DRIVERS GLIDE 2.4 & DIRECT3D 2.1  

. Some people have had problems after installing the Direct3D 2.1 part of these new drivers. I have not tried them yet.

NOTE: Neither of these drivers will work on Voodoo Rush based cards.
Don't forget it is best to use drivers specially for your card from Orchid, Diamond etc. Glide 2.4 also does not include Voodoo Rush drivers yet but they will be posted shortly. Also on the link check out 3Dfxgl, "a 3-D graphics library with an API very similar to that of OpenGL(r)".
Also this glide is reported to fix some bugs such as the ALT+TAB bug when switching back to GLQUAKEWORLD from Windows 95.

* NEW *   CARMAGEDDON 3DFX PATCH (BETA)! (748K)

What are you hanging around reading this for ? More info about the patch on www.carmageddon.com (link fixed sorry).
I just tried it out - this is a great improvement over the non-accelerated game. Worth buying a 3DFX for! The difference is amazing even on a fast Pentium you still get a huge improvement (640x480 looks great and has an excellent frame rate).

At last Voodoo owners and Voodoo Rush users can now download a Rush compatible Outlaws 3DFX demo! Go get em Floyd.

* NEW *   QUAKE RALLY QUAKE CONVERSION (7.5MB)

Now you can race around GLQuake in Cars! Check this out. Don't forget when you download this, copy it to your Quake directory but unzip using the -d option! i.e. from the RUN menu on windows95 enter:
C:\QUAKE\QR10FULL.EXE -d    (change C: for your drive)

* NEW *   X-CARS 3DFX DEMO (7.5MB).

This new car sim has been coming for quite a while.. is it any good? Well there have been mixed opinions but mainly people seem to think it's not too great. This seems to stem from the fact that this is a SIM rather than an arcade game. Trying to steer at 150 mph is a tad tricky in the real thing apparently so maybe this is for real sim-nuts? Have a look at the demo and judge for yourself.

* NEW *   MECHWARRIOR 2:MERCENARIES DIRECT 3D PATCH!

  NB! This patch requires you to upgrade to version 1.05 of Mercenaries first. If you do not then the Direct3D patch will not work properly and you will not see the new enhanced graphics. Make sure you run the version 1.05 patch BEFORE running the version 1.08 patch. There have been some problems for some people trying to get the patch to work with v1.0 of Mercs (even when manually updated to 1.05 before applying this patch). If you have v.1.05 on your CD then you will have no problems. The new patch includes high res 16 bit colour graphics, bilinear filtering and mip mapping etc plus combat enhancements. Hercules Stingray 128 users will need to update to v1.02 of the Hercules drivers when they become available from www.hercules.com.
You can also d/l the patch (8.8MB) direct from Voodoo Extreme

  This is ridiculous. Just like buses - no flight sims for ages then three come at once. Deja Vu... Hang on I have written that before. . I have been so busy I missed it's release aaaaarg. Must get some sleep ... must play Flying Corps... no must sleep..
Also iFF2 is out in a few days too!
Note:   The file is 3.1MB and it doesn't work apparently with the Voodoo RUSH cards :( .

  The last zip file DiD posted did have a CRC error but this one from Op 3DFX is working! (9 MB). Apparently is does NOT support Hercules Stingray/ Voodoo Rush boards :( but TFX3 will.

* NEW *   CARMAGEDDON OFFICIAL BLOOD/GORE PATCH

  Those who bought the UK or German version of CARMAGEDDON will be pleased to know there is an official blood/gore patch to put the red blood and gore back. Now all we need is the 3DFX patch to see that gore in full glory ;). Check out this great CARMAGEDDON site "Carmageddon.com" (Hi Jon) for more Carmageddon stuff.

* NEW *   EF2000 GRAPHICS + 3DFX PATCH!

  At long long long last the patch is out for those with the DOS version of EF2000 and Tactcom! Be warned though when the patch was first posted the zip had a CRC error in it so wait a little while in case you download it and waste your time :(. As soon as I try it and it's ok I will post. Of course it may be fixed already ;).  It may be better to check out DiD's web site and have a look first

  The 3DFX mode CTHUGHA has been improved. This is the 3DFX version .5. For those who dont know this is an audio spectrum analyser/cd player. The new version looks good.

* NEW *   MOTOR RACER RUSH FIX

  Nick Pandher posted this regarding problems with Voodoo Rush and a fix for Motor Racer with a 3DFX Voodoo Rush board (like the Hercules Stingray 128:
"Any demo/game that requires Glide 2.1.1/GLIDE.DLL (ie: Tigershark, MW2 for Glide) will not work on Voodoo Rush. Glide 2.3 and later titles (ie: Formula 1, Updated MDK...etc..) will work on both Voodoo Rush and Voodoo Graphics.
Now to get Moto Racer to work:
1) start the demo.exe file for Moto Racer with a -d3d4m switch; ie: c:\mracer\demo.exe -d3d4m
This fixes a problem where the demo determines the board has 6MB and therefore tries to send 6MB of textures.
2) Run the game, go into the options screen, click on the D3D option to select "Filtered"
3) Make sure the detail level is at 5... Play the game...
Each time you start MotoRacer, you will however have to go back into options to turn D3D back to the "Filtered" option.

  The SWIV3D European patch for the full game is out about available from Op.3DFX link above). James Sharman, (Lead Programmer SWIV 3D) says:

"I have just finished and ziped up the 3dfx patch for the european release of swiv 3d. This should be appereing the the SCI and 3DFX websites today or tommorow. Since swiv 3D is several months old in the Europe now you can pick up copies very cheap, fully function 3dfx game for �15, cool or what!"

"US gamers note: The new version of swiv 3d that we are publishing in the states through interplay will be out in a few months, US gamers best wait untill then to get all the new stuff such as network support and the extra episode and the new craft."

HALF LIFE - 3DFX
  Richard has some new screenshots on his TMole site.

Shown at the E3 the game seems to have plenty of attention to detail.
Here's a quick post from Jamie Nolan posted on the net:
"This game impressed me. It is NOT your average DOOM style game. Well it is but it isn't. The enemy AI are really smart and they actually use their surroundings to their advantage. The rep showed us a room where enemy soldiers dressed in snow camoflage carrying what looked like M-16's with grenade launchers were moving throughout a warehouse filled with crates. They were moving in a search and destroy formation. When he fired upon the point man the rest of them immediately ran for cover and the original solider he shot at returned fire while running backwards for cover. Pretty damn slick. Another thing that impressed me was the fact that the enemy soldiers actually reload their weapons after 35 rounds. You can hear and watch them pull the clip out and replace it with another. You can even hear the casings hit the floor everytime they pull the trigger. This game had security guards, mad scientists, and all kinds of aliens. Some of the alien creatures jump at you and try to suck your face while others will listen for you and attack anything that makes any noice. No more run and shoot everywhere in this game. You will want to take the quiet and stealthy approach in places of this game."

E3 SHOW.
  At the E3 show in the US the 3DFX Voodoo seems to have wiped the floor with most stands showing the 3DFX logo on their coming games. Games shown include the following clutch of Racing games: Power Slide, F1 Racing Simulation - Ubisoft, Cart Precision Racing - Microsoft, Formula 1 97 - Psygnosis, Test Drive 4 - Accolade, Andretti Racing 98 - Electronic Arts, ABC Sports The Road to Indy - Disney Software, plus other long awaited titles like: Jedi Knight, LongBow II, Quake II, Half Life and many others.
