Dedication Ritual

*Here is the dedication ritual that we wrote for Lady Willow's dedication on Samhien 2001, this is just an example for you, while you write your own dedication, please do not follow this one because your dedication is a special and crucial part of your training to become a witch and using someone else's dedication would take away from the important time that should be yours alone, you can use this as a guide line if you would like, but I would recommend to first look around at other dedication rituals and then take what you have to, from them and then make your own, trust me it is alot easier then you think....

*If you are by chance wandering what a dedication is it is a ritual where you shed your old religion and become fully and completely Wiccan, it is when you can really call yourself a witch, the dedication can be done either by your coven or just by yourself it all depends on how you want to do it and what you believe in, for example a Solitary wiccan who learns and practices on there own would do a self dedication ritual, remember do not do a dedication ritual unless you are positive that you are ready to follow the Old Ways and you have studied, studied and studied some more.......

Priestess: We come here this night to dedicate one of our own into the religion of the old ways.........Are you Lady Willow of the Coven The Lady Of The silver Mysts ready to walk upon the path that is less traveled? Do you promise to be true to your goddess and god but even more importantly to be true to your self?

LW:Yes

Priestess: Then we shall begin:

~Priestess stands in the middle of the circle..........

LW: turn to the north and say in a powerful voice Oh mighty Earth join me in my dedication to the old ways share with me your stability and strength as I walk along my path.....(light the candle and put it in its rightful place then sprinkle some salt around the circle).......................

LW: turn to the east and say Oh mighty Air join me in my dedication to the old ways, share with me your knowledge and wisdom as I walk along my path.......

(light the candle and put it in its rightful place and then light the incense and walk around the circle with it)

LW: turn to the south and say Oh mighty Fire join me in my dedication to the old ways share with me your courage and power as I walk along my path.........(light the candle and put it in its rightful place, then take the torch from the priestess and walk around the circle)

LW: turn to the west and say oh mighty water join me in my dedication to the old ways share with me your flexibility and innocence as I walk along my path.....(light the candle and put it in its rightful place,then take some water and sprinkle it around the circle)

LW: Turn to the priestess and say: Dearest Lady Isis and Lord Osiris please join me in my dedication ( Priestess will represent your chosen deities) Please allow me to become one of your faithful followers..........

Priestess: Child of mine will you die the ritual death to be reborn once again? Are you willing to shed your old ways and become one with this earth and her mysteries..........(you say yes)

Priestess: Then die before us

LW: lay down upon the ground and close your eyes feel the power of the earth enter you become one with the earth and her surrounding feel the power of the goddess and god within you when you are ready arise once again and stand before your priestess.......

Priestess: I now greet you as an equal no less and no more you are now one with the goddess and god forever more you shall be the humble servant of the old ways never forget this and always rejoice in the promise that you have made tonight...........

LW: promise to do this.........and then say that is my will so mote it be

Priestess: That is my will so mote it be ........

~then we all hug and stuff and then we all have a taste of the ritual bread and of the juice and then LW offers some of the feast to the elements and the Lord and Lady when we are done with that thank the elements for coming to this crucial point in your life and then we shall close the circle.....
