A Soviet Bear bomber flying *REALLY* close over the USS Midway off the coast of Vietnam in 1987

One of the USS Midway's F18 fighters inviting the Bear to be somewhere else.

A Soviet Helix helicopter buzzing us on the USS Mobile Bay. These are really neat aircraft. Instead of having a tail rotor like most helos, these have counter-rotating rotorheads. Really small, and really nimble.

A rare photo indeed. We caught a Soviet Foxtrot sub flatfooted on the surface. We were in the shallows of a straight between Japan and the continent, which forced the Soviets to travel for a short distance on the surface.

The USS Bunker Hill. I included this picture to show an Aegis cruiser. This is what the USS Mobile Bay is. This shot was taken while I was about 15 stories up in the air on the mast of the USS Midway.

Me in my coveralls and flight deck cranial on the forward deck of the USS Mobile Bay.

A solar eclipse in the middle of the Indian Ocean. Taken from an observation deck on the island structure of the USS Midway.
