More Preparation

The removal of the original paint and surface rust was done with 18 grit sanding disk's which put large gouges in the body work. There was no other way to remove all the rust spots that had eaten their way into the metal.

I went through stages of utter despair when it was suggested that the front fenders, hood , trunk lid and roof were so bad that it may have to be replaced there was a suggestion that we may be able to get away with painting the roof with a heavy white paint to hide the damage. In stepped a magician with a file and very good hand's and eye's who hand filed the whole body until it looked as good as new (don't ask me how it works, I just handed over more magic beans). I located another hood which was in excellent condition so it was put on instead of wasting time on the original.

The doors and front guards came off to access the door pillars so that they could be protected properly. A few coats of primer, a lot of sandpaper and worn fingertips went into getting the body ready for the final colour to go on.
10 minutes after this it was painted
The insides of the doors, trunk lid, hood, door jams and trunk opening lip ETC. were painted before final assembly and alignment. Then it was onto a carrier and off  to a paint booth for the final spraying.
Yee Haa!!
