1963 Dodge 880 4-door hardtop Station wagon
The 1963 Dodge Custom 880 station wagon was as attractive as any such body style on the market for 1963. The beautiful hardtop styling was continued from last year on only the premium Custom 880 Series and was available in two versions. The 9-passenger version carried a price tag of $3,407, weighed 4,165 pounds and was classified as a Model 559. The 6-passenger Model 558 went for $3,292 and tipped the scales at 4,110 pounds.

 More popular for highway patrol work, where many miles were put in each day on multi-lane freeways, was the large Dodge 880 Series police pursuit models. The 880 police car was available in both the 4-door sedan and the wagon body styles. It had as its standard power plant the 361 cubic inch horsepower V-8. This 880 4-door sedan is seen in municipal police form.

The Dodge Custom 880 4-door sedan. Model 513 had as much luxury as could be found in any car in its price class. Selling for $2,964. this car weighed 3,730 pounds.

1963 Dodge 330 2-Door sedan Police Pursuit car
Dodge offered a complete line of police pursuits for 1963. A full complement of five models were available in both the Dodge 330 and 880 Series. Least expensive among these was the 330 2-door police pursuit seen here. The standard engine for this car was the 225 cubic inch Slant Six. while the V-8's were available up to 383 cubic inches and 330 horsepower at 4600 RPM. The 330 police pursuits were offered in 4-door sedan, 2-door sedan and station wagon body styles.

Now on a longer wheelbase, the Dodge 330 4-door sedan was this year's standard taxi offering. These vehicles came with special long-wearing, tough vinyl upholstery and rubber mats on the floor. They were offered with either the 225 cubic inch Slant Six or the 318 cubic inch V-8 for a greater reserve of power. The V-8 used regular grade gas. There was no park lever for the automatic transmission in the Taxi Version of the Dodge's

 

   1963 426 CID Ramcharger engine
Starring on drag strips all across the country and rapidly the becoming the car to beat was any Dodge equipped, with the famous Ram Charger competition V-8. This extraordinary engine wore a pair of four barrel carburetors in its highest powered form. The engine displaced 426 cubic inches and produced 425 horsepower at 5600 RPM. Not only was the manifold specially designed for the large quad carbs. but the exhaust headers were of an unusual configuration.
