*The _Slicer_ executes a barrow roll, diving and delivering broadsides into the Halbred, while the other ship does a loop-de-loo and returns fire. Systems test completed, Cyborg Stan anlayzes the results. He would have liked some intricate repairs, and further days for the newer guns to mature, but they will do. For now.*

*Letting out a deep breath, and double checking his systems, Cyborg Stan enters a deep trance. Calling upon the powers inherant in his blood, he negates the mental chatter and noise coming from the fleet.... and projects it into the decoy. Now even the Emperor couldn't tell.....*

The real fleet rendezvous together at the agreed position slightly behind and far to the left of Neptune, their new surface holoprojectors activate. One by one, the drifting ships vanish from view as they are overlayed with the 3d hologram of various toon characters. When all is in readiness.. they wait. From a distance, a dispassionate observer would puzzle over what appears to be a Disney convention held in deep space...

...Finding everyone departing, he starts yelling more at his crew, making them move quickly to getting the light drive properly configured. He sets a course for neptune at sublight, seething at the delay. Several times he finds himself ready to kill various minor members of his crew, only stopping himself because of his orders. After a short delay, the new drive is installed and ready to run, trusting his crews ability, he engages the drive, the ship passing through Lurkerspace, and finding itself appearing near neptune mere moments later. Aside to his first in command he speaks... How does the progress on my last 10 minutes of luck come? ...Giving a snappy salute, the officer responds... "Quickly sir, it should be ready in just under an hour" Good.

With a deep sub-ethereal hum, the well protected interdictor prepares to activate its gravitational well generators. In moments, the power has built up and the synthetic gravity field generators activate. Casting an ever expanding entrapment field, the event is marked in deep silence. Everybody in the fleet knows, in a deep gut-twisting way, that this is it. Once the field is on, nobody leaves. There will be no escape from the battlefield, no second chances. We make our stand HERE.

A flash of light appears, then another. And another. The sky fills with ships like snowflakes in a blizzard. Slamming unexpectedly into the interdiction field and being forced out of hyperspace, the enemy fleet plows to a halt. As more ships are forced to emerge, some of the later ones plow headlong and collide with their forerunners. Like a tide breaking on a shore, the enemy fleet has arrived.

Realizing immediately the implications of this sudden event, the emperor quickly brings order to the milling chaos of his ships. At any moment, he expected a fleet to emerge from nowhere to engage him.. Yet none came. His sensor operators report a most fearsome sight. Gigantic, grotesque creatures drifting slowly towards his fleet. The various ships shift slightly, preparing for conflict. Not trusting in the sensors, for this was so obviously a trap, the emperor instead closed his eyes. Focusing his senses like a laser, he scans the hideous agglomeration threatening his fleet.. and sees...nothing. It is a decoy. Nothing more. The sensor operator, made reckless by the sudden turn of events, dared to interrupt the emperor's trance with a report of barely detected sensor readings indicating a presence hidden behind the small gas giant nearby. The emperor commands the main sensors to focus on the anomaly, and then turns inward. Yes... there are minds there. Terrified minds in miniscule warships flitting about behind the planet. Reports from quickly dispatched probe droids begin to return. Reports of a small fleet of warships hiding orbit about a minor moon. As the images of this waiting ambush appear on the main viewscreens, the Xenarian representative, till then keeping silent, excitedly commands the last image to freeze. With a shaking claw, it points out an oval, bluish insectile smudge moving amidst the motley ships. It is a command ship of House_Woodlouse! Having had all the confirmation he needs, the emperor cracks his lips in a wicked leer. Surprise him, and ambush him will they? Well, the shoe is on the other foot! On his command, the massive fleet moves to englobe the planet, cutting off all escape. The Xenarian representative cackles merrily as he points out the despised Woodlouse elements panic and abandon their allies. Such cowards! Like an unstoppable wave, the emperor's ships approach the planet..

The fleet elements of House Woodlouse, having succeeded in their task to lure the emperor's fleet, makes haste to evacuate the area. They were almost too late. Moving quickly, the lead elements composed of the emperor's fastest ships, the englobing maneuver quickly pinches off the escape route. Taking hits, the Blue Pea and its escorts breaks through the blockade and makes good their escape. The emperor's ships, systematically scanning and blasting any anomalous object within the swirling atmosphere of the gas giant, ensure that there are no surprises lurking within. As if with great dignity and pomp, the emperor's strongest vessels make their way through this sea of warships towards the now visibly agitated and milling decoy fleet. Opening a channel, the command ship broadcasts an arrogant demand for the vastly outnumbered defenders to surrender. The emperor laughs at their silence. Less than fifty capital ships against his fleet of over a thousand! Having waited long enough, he gives the order to commence the slaughter. The first salvo obliterates one of the milling ships, signaling the start of a massacre. Flaming debris fills the scene as hundreds of ships pour fire onto the hapless, foolish enemy. They return fire, but were obviously too terrified to aim well for their shots all missed. In moments, it was over.

Aboard the emperor's flagship, the senior sensor officer receives the latest scan results. Disconcertingly, the debris consisted largely of vaporized and fragmented rock. In an analysis of a slow replay, it was determined that the ships were in fact thin metallic shells surrounding a congealed rocky interior. Dreading the implications, the officer hits the emergency alarm and rushes towards the bridge. Running through coridors filled with flashing red lights and the loud sound of alarm klaxons, the officer makes it to the bridge. He arrives just in time to see a blinding white glare come through the forward viewscreen. The moon about which the oblited enemy had orbited had flared like a photo-flash. In an instant, the rocky holographic surface vanishes, to be replaced by a mirrored sphere. Giant lightning bolts shoot out across thousands of kilometers and into Neptune's atmosphere. In a flash, a gateway materializes. The emperor's fleet, not letting the thing go about its business, pound on the transformed moon with every weapon they have. Too late, as from out of the gateway emerges a blinding light; and a multi-million degree fragment of the sun's core....... And Neptune's atmosphere goes NOVA. Many of the emperor's fleet, being too close to the planet, are instantly destroyed. Most of them however, survive with various degrees of damage. They all share one common aspect; flash-blinded sensors and utter chaos. Still outnumbered more than 10-to-1, the Disney Fleet now burst into speed, taking advantage of the enemy's temporary confusion.

Tossing huge gouts of flaming gas, Neptune's upper atmosphere is thrown off into space. Unseen and unnoticed in all the raging chaos, a mirrored egg tumbles end over end, out of control. The surface flickers, then turns dark gray, the ship inert. Zapper has been eliminated from the fight.
