*As the new Field Marshals shuttle arives in the docking bay on
the Blue Pea the command crew of both the fleet and the Blue Pea itself
stands to attention to greet the new commander, the Captain of the Blue
Pea speaks first "Lord Woodlouse! We are honoured by your presence!"* I
am affraid I'm no longer the Lord of this House, Captain, I'm now your
Field Marshal, and I can tell you that things are going to change around
here, the fleet has been commanded by an idiot for far too long, it is
time that ORDER was restored! *the ex-Lord speaks with a clear and precise
tone, and stands with an air of a true commander, the Captain is impressed
and salutes with a broad smile of respect "Ay, Sah! It shall be done, and
gallantly!" Cheesybean nods and says* I would expect nothing less, you
remember that and a bright future lies before you in the Space Corps. *Cheesybean
hands over a datapad with new routines and training schedules to the Captain*
I want these new orders to be sent throughout the fleet, and I want them
carried to the letter, understand? *"Yes, Sir!"* Good, if you need me I
shall be in my ready room, I want full reports on our status by the hour,
understand? *"Yes, Sir, certainly Sir!"* Good, get to it. *Cheesybean nods
and strides to his ready room, the bridge crew stare with awe in their
new commanding officer*

Whatever happened to the fleet that matched a thousand of the best
Imperial vessels? Come ON people! This is just a pair of annoying Wrbirds
not the _Iron Fist_!

The EDA, severely weakened by the loss of the Insufficiently Reluctant,
the non-participation of the Woodlice due to internal political strife,
the absence of the Cyborg forces, and the condition of most of the rest
(snoring in drunken stupor) found itself in disarray and having difficulty
coping with the two cloaked warbirds. Still, all is not lost.. The HVIC
batteries on Earth, most of them under theatre defense shields from Jadesfire's
former crew, suffered no damage. Those cannons not under shields which
were attacked by the warbirds received rapid repair. The spidernet members
in Savannah's Interdictor had heard TDK's call for assist. Even distracted
by an insidious assault against them by one of Jadesfire's former crew
(dangling subplot, ask Jades) they have retained sufficient witts about
them to utilize the resources left..

'Tracking faint magnetic particle trail disturbance! The cloaked
Warbirds passed through the cloud of magnetic dust left behind by the Vulcans,
and some of it got caught in their warp fields. Broadcasing their coordinates.'
A continuous stream of numbers poured through the spidernet, alerting all
membert to the phenomena and hence greatly multiplying the number of sensors
tracking the disturbances. TDK, commanding the BoP to attempt one last
surge of power, did a short warp and launched all remaining photorps. Dropping
out of warp, internal systems overloaded, it drifted for a bit until the
Interdictor reeled it in using tractor beams. Of the 9 photorps, warp sustainers
keeping them at FTL, 6 smashed into the very surprised cloaked Warbirds
which were attempting emergency evasive maneuvers. Being cloaked, they
were unshielded. Being unshielded, they were now heavily damaged..

*Cyborg Stan manueveers his shuttle closer to the battlespace. Of
course, he senses even stranger stuff going on.* Odd. *Continues scanning,
and readies himself to manuveer in anytime....*

The Romulans, not dropping their cloak, managed to clear the magnetic
particle field, and headed at high warp for Mars. One of the Warbirds,
having taken the brunt of the assault, had to drop its cloak nearly halfway
there....

On the bridge of the VDF _Flawless Light_, Admiral Skarak turned
to S'Tranak, now standing beside him. "That portal the hostile ship went
through - is this an example of the Lurkerspace you were telling me about?"
"No," replied S'Tranak, "this doesn't look anything like it. It looks more
like.."(pause for thought)" a Quasi-Space portal!" "A WHAT?" "I shall explain,
Admiral, though this phenomenon is well known to some of our allies..."

I love having a hybrid ship. Set an intercept couse on that decloaked
Warbird, and engage the hyperdrive. Charge up the disruptors to full. Engage!

Fascinated as usual by yet another spacial anomaly the Vulcans launched
a score of probes in order to gather more information. Vast reams of data
were rapidly collected, concerning all the particle-decay products of the
Gnomespace portal. Meanwhile, S'Tranak explained his theories, to an initially
sceptical, then incredulous, Admiral Skarak. Suddenly they were interupted
by one of the bridge crew. "Admiral, a Rihannsu ship has decloaked and
is headed this way. They are hailing us and saying they come in peace."
