Want to know what's been happening at The Tangled Web? This is what happened in December 1998.

December 31, 1998 -- Actually, it's late on the 30th, but the last entry was made at about 1 AM anyway, so it's a new day. This will be my last entry for this year, and as you can see, I'm preparing for the new year with a new look (yes... again!) I can't guarantee how long this design will last, but I think it's a bit cleaner and easier to read than the last one. This set is for my use only, but I also made a set of Valentine's Day graphics while I was working. It's called Hearts and it's nice and pink and "femmy" as my husband would say. Beginning in January, I will archive the contents of this page and keep only the current month's entries here. You will still be able to access the older content if you want to, but this page is getting a bit big for my tastes. Enjoy your New Year's celebrations and come back to see me next year. I've got some surprises in the works for you... but more about that next year!

December 30, 1998 -- The year is winding down, and I've got four new sets for you. The first Trees, shows some evergreen trees on a very pale green background. The border texture is a little bit snow-like. The second through fourth are all based on an idea from Moyra, of Moyra's Web Jewels, who suggested playing around with high-contrast kaleidoscopic images. These images are not necessarily "high-contrast" but they are different. Take a look at Abstract 1, Abstract 2 and Abstract 3 and, after you do, take another look at Tie Dye, Tie Dye 3 and Faded Tapestry as all of those were also based on the same Kaleidoscope II filter.

December 21, 1998 -- In the same way that nature abhors a vacuum, I can't seem to leave the graphic sets list unbalanced, so I made another set! This one is called Orange Flower. You probably won't see much in the way of updates now until after Christmas, in fact, maybe not until after New Year's! If I get the vacation time I asked for, I plan to take a complete vacation from the computer. See you next year...

December 20, 1998 -- Just in time (barely) for the holidays, I've got another new set for you. It's called Holly and will give you a bit of holly to spice up your web site. I had intended to make a few more holiday sets, but didn't count on a week or more of overtime right before the holidays. I hope all of you have a happy holiday season. And now for something completely different... I give you Shells a summery little set that I hope you will like.

December 16, 1998 -- I'm afraid I don't have anything new in the way of graphics or tutorials today, but I wanted to announce that The Tangled Web has been awarded Rita Peitz's a Star Site Silver Award. You can see the lovely award graphi on my Awards page. While you're at it, check out Rita's site too.

December 14, 1998 -- What a pleasant surprise! I came home from work tonight to find Ric Noell's Cool Site Award waiting in my inbox. You can see the award on my Awards page, and while you're there, check out Ric's site... it's kind of cool too! Wrap up your web site for the holidays with Wrapping Paper my newest set. There are now 21 sets from which you can choose.

December 13, 1998 -- Just a little something to brighten up your day. This new set is called Sunflower and it features bright orange, yellow and soft green. Maybe the flower isn't exactly a sunflower, but it's the closest I could come to naming it. Besides, it does look nice and sunny...

December 10, 1998 -- Just couldn't wait to tell you that The Tangled Web has won another award. You can see the award and visit Francie's Home Page from my Awards page.

December 9, 1998 -- Only one new set for you today! I found an old friend (make that longtime friend) tonight and spent most of the evening chatting with her on ICQ. BTW, if you see this, "Hi," Alice! She and I have been friends since before I started with computers. In fact, she and I have been friends since... well, anyway... the new set is called Wood and it was made as a result of playing around with different textures in BladePro. You might have noticed, if you've been here before, that I'm using a different page counter. I was using the one provided by FortuneCity, but unfortunately, lately it keeps coming up as a broken image link. I finally gave up and started using the BraveNet counter instead. I've sent an e-mail to the powers that be at FortuneCity, and if they fix their counter, I'll put it back.

Later that same night... So I was wrong! I have two sets for you today. The second set is one of which I am quite proud! I thinks it's quite different from anything I've done so far. I really hope you like this one. It's called, Music and I made it in honor of my paternal grandmother.

December 7, 1998 -- It may be Pearl Harbor Day, but you won't find any bombs here (I hope!) I have two more graphic sets for you: Acorn a fall set, and Blue Flower a more delicate set in soft blue on black. I also have a new tutorial, called No Place Like Home, which is the start of a list of free web site providers. It's not even close to comprehensive right now, but I'm going to try to add one or two sites a week. Why so slow? I want to give you as much information about the various places as I possibly can and it takes time to access all those sites. Suggestions are cheerfully accepted. You will also find a link to a new graphics site I found today. It's called "Borders by Silverhair" and features some really lovely and original graphic sets. You will find it on my Links page, right under Moyra's Web Jewels. Finally, las but by no means least, I was just accepted as a member of The Garden House. You can find a link and more information on my Memberships page.

December 6, 1998 -- This week I have not one, not two, but three new graphic sets for you. The first, called Faded Tapestry has a very soft and subtle texture, Partridge is an early entry into holiday graphics. You get a partridge and a pear! Finally Greenleaf looks forward to spring. I have to admit, I'm already looking forward to spring. Besides, here in New York State, the weather we've been having is decidedly springlike so it seemed doubly appropriate.

December 3, 1998 -- I sometimes think there must be a special imp that exists only to punish people who take time off from work. I started this week with a day off and have been paying for it ever since. Of course, it could be just the full moon... Anyway, there's only one new thing here and it's right on my home page. Scroll down to the bottom to find the box headed "Free Download" and you can download a free (and very small) program that will help you create a customized Internet start page. This program is absolutely free, no strings attached. Well... you will have a link to The Tangled Web on your start page, but I'm sure you want that anyway, don't you? *SMILE* You must have JavaScript enabled and not have turned off cookies to have this work. The program creates a cookie on your machine that enables your browser to customize the page when you load it. Absolutely NO personal information is saved there. I've used the program myself, and examined the resulting cookie, so I know it's safe.

December 1, 1998 -- I mentioned in my last entry that one of my sets had won an award. You can see it on my new Awards page. I haven't really done much in the past few days because of the Thanksgiving Holiday. I was lucky enough to have the day off on Monday the 30th, and I really needed a break. I do have a new tutorial for you on "Creating Glowing Text" and I finally finished the "face lift" I mentioned several weeks ago. I'd really like to know what you think of the new look. Send me an e-mail message with your comments (good or bad) to: [email protected]
