When I came home to find the first message saying Carmine had called, I was surprised.  I knew that he was still on tour with Tony.  When I tried to return the call, I was connected to a hotel switchboard.  The operator said the band had already moved on.  Now I was really puzzled.  Why in the world would Carmine be calling while still on the road?

One night, I came in to find Jon on the phone.  “Oh!  Here she is now,” he said, handing me the receiver.

It was Carmine. “ I’ve had a hell of a time trying to get a hold of you .”

“Hello, to you too.”

“Sorry. But you’re never home.”

“Look who’s talking.”

“Yeah… well… So how is Little Italy?"

“It’s great.  I love it.”  I paused, “how did you know I’m in Little Italy?”

“Your dad mentioned it.”

“You talked to dad?”
