Masons for one-half century:

On our Installation Night, the Grand Master, presented not one but TWO Fifty-year Jewels to worthy and long serving Brethren of Star of the Rand Lodge.

This unique occasion was preceded by the listing of the worthy Brethren's achievements in their long and illustrious Masonic Careers. Both were initiated in 1952, both were Masters of the Lodge, and among their many other accolades, both received Provincial or Grand Lodge rank. Wor\Bro\William Stock Armstrong, P.P.G.S.W was Master of Star of the Rand in 1961/62, 1972/73 and 1992/93, every twenty years, or so. Wor\Bro\William Maurice Salakoff, Past.G.Treas. was in the Chair of the Lodge in 1962/63. Our congratulations and admiration go to our beloved Brethren.

Charity Drive.

The BB\ of Star of the Rand Lodge have identified various needs by local beneficence organisations, and have recently managed to organise the donation of an industrial gas stove and pot, as well as an oven to the Johannesburg Childrens' Home, who was in serious need of these appliances.

BB\ Louis and Stefan did all the ground work in securing the donation of the stove by the News Cafe Organisation, and they, together with the  Wor\Master, made the official presentation on 27th August, 2002.

A further need for an industrial tumble dryer has now been identified at the Johannesburg Childrens' Home and the BB\ are in the process of looking for a donor for this much needed appliance. Anybody interested in contributing, should contact the Bro\ Secretary.
