Girls' soccer shuts out league opponents with 3-0 record

The girls’ soccer team has had a successful start to their season, posting a 3-0-league record and a 6-2 overall record. The lady ‘Skins stand on top of four game winning streak, and hope to keep it going.

The ‘Skins defeated Hempfield, C.B. West, Pennsbury, North Penn, and C.B. West all with in a week’s time. Their success to the start of a great season is due to their hard work during practices, and the teamwork that is demonstrated in their play.

The captains of the team that demonstrate leadership and maturity are seniors Diana Laich, Sharla Partlon, Sara Camilli, and Margaret Kaminska.

“Our team is doing great right now. All of the girls work hard at practice and it shows,” said Laich. “The best thing about our team is that we all love soccer, so it’s never a chore for us to practice or play.”

Major contributors for the ‘Skins are seniors Partlon, Laich, Camilli, Kaminska, Lauren Dickinson, juniors Kim Thomas, Jamie Punyko, Vanessa Robtison, sophomore goal tender Cori Coleman, and freshmen Allyson D’Attola, Christine Wrublusky, and Kim Kelty.

“I don’t think anyone expected us to do this well,” stated Partlon. “We really work together and I know we can go far. I’m really happy we surprised ourselves and everyone else.”

Offensive player Dickinson leads the area in scoring with six goals. Dickinson is a transfer from Calvary Christian and is playing her first year for the ‘Skins.
“She’s a godsend,” said head coach Richard Reice. “She’s a big time player and is usually around the ball. She’s good, very good.”

Reice is very pleased with the way his team has been practicing and playing.

“The girls have committed to giving 100% in practice and it has resulted in our winning some key early games,” commented Reice. “If we stay focused we could have a very good season.”

Although the ‘Skins are off to a good start, they will have to continue to work hard to get through some tough upcoming games. They will battle Bensalem and Abington at home on April 11 and 17, and an away night game verse Tennet on April 19.

“We realize that the upcoming games will be tough,” commented Laich. “But I believe we are just as good as anyone else in the area. We all just have to work at it and work together.”
