If there's nothing to do in Bucks...

There are lots of advantages of living in the suburbs. Just kidding.

When the Great American Diner Pub and the local 7-11 are the only forms of entertainment available, doesn’t that indicate that something is wrong?

Living in Bucks County should motivate all students to get on the honor roll, because high grades may get them into a college far away from here.

Think about it: How many times can we be expected to go to the movies or to the mall before we go clinically insane? Not too many, let us assure you.
“The only fun things to do around here get me into community service,” notes senior Jeff Stieber.

On a more law abiding note, senior Lauren Otto said, “The most exciting thing to do is go to work so I can raise money and move out.”

The general sentiment regarding excitement in the suburbs is laden with frusteration and disgust. “Since most of us underclassmen don’t drive, there’s really not that much to do around here,” sophomore Evan Overton said. “Even though the people who do have their licenses are only driving around and wasting gas.” Overton, like many other people in our society, thinks that he’s too young to do anything fun.
For example, even just going to an R-rated movie requires a picture ID that proves you’re 17. So if any of your friends happen to be 16, there
goes one more option on your Friday night schedule.
What we are trying to say is that most of us are not of age to partake in any of our teenage interests. Not to mention the 11:00 p.m. curfew, which leaves us barely any time to do anything anyway.
“There is greater isolation here in the suburbs than where I grew up in the city. Unless teenagers have cars, they’re going to feel marooned in their cul-de-sac,” said English teacher Mary O’Pella. “When I was growing up, everything was within walking distance and there was lots to do.”
With all this in mind, we hope that one day we can look back and appreciate what we had.
