Curry puts some spice into her artwork

With her unique sense of expression, and her loud way of committing herself towards her creations, Christine Curry is able to leave a very significant impression on all that admire her intriguing work.
At age 17, Curry has already molded quite an impressive artistic resume to show off to future enrollments at selected universities. Beyond her years of art courses, hitting each point of Neshaminy’s art curriculum, including her ongoing years of involvement in Neshaminy’s District Art Show.

Curry also attended an extensive figure drawing course at the women’s college of art, Moore in Philadelphia.

Currently, she is taking Advance Art III, Pottery, and Advanced Electronic Arts. Looking forward for graduation, Curry explains how she hopes to attend the University of the Arts downtown majoring in either animation or art education.

Curry’s favorite medium is a tie between clay and acrylic paint. She loves working with her hands, making her pottery class one of her most enjoyable. Her paintings, which are actually rather well known, have been displayed around the school’s hallways for the past three years.

One most memorable was her uncanny self-portrait that became quite a spectacle in D-hall her sophomore year.

The buzz down at the art center about this newfound artist was one that created more responses from the teachers themselves than from the students, about her work and ambition. Art teachers, Ben Welwood and Hara Lisausky both agreed that if Curry were to be summed up into three words they would most likely be “unique,” likeable,” and “contagious.”

One teacher, who stands out among the rest, was the very mentor whom witnessed Curry’s developing talents string from one success to another. Cheryl Pike, an art instructor, has moved up to the high school along side of Curry. “(Curry is) as good of an artist as she is an outgoing spirit,” she said.
Curry, who is unfortunately her own worst critic, has the thought that art is her only positive endowment.

Yet, ironically, this utilizes her natural ability for means of enjoyment and even venting her emotions. “I can’t always verbally express the way I feel, so drawing and painting always helps me output my emotions with the use of my creativity.”

Although Curry admires Andy Warhol, she is not really inspired by anyone in particular but admits music helps exceedingly. “It’s easy to associate music/songs with my emotions and then convey it through my work.” Curry said.

Curry’s had a few words of wisdom that she decided to leave with the public. “Just have fun with art," she said. "It isn’t about competition or the money or even what other people like, it’s to please yourself and only yourself. There, eat your heart out."
