...You may not be looking hard enough

As Friday approaches, the halls of Neshaminy are filled with the moans and groans of students like Mark Haas complaining about how there is “nothing to do and nowhere to go in Bucks.”

We find this hard to believe. Our area is not full of farms in which the only thing to do in a 10- mile radius is hang out at a McDonald's.

We have plenty to do. The only reason people feel there is nothing to do in Bucks, is because these people complaining are just boring.

They cry about how the only hangouts are 7-11 and the diners. We have it great where we live. Malls, stores and restaurants surround our area. Everything is so congested in Bucks; it almost feels like a little city.

The first reason Bucks dominates is the weather. When is the last time a tornado or tsunami ripped through Bucks? We have hot summers, but not hot to the point of death. Our winters are cold, but frostbite is never a problem. “We get a perfect amount of snow for me to sled in my toboggan.” said senior Patricia Shadovitz.

Good point because sledding is vital. Another disaster, flooding, is also very rare as we receive a perfect amount of rain. The weather in Bucks is a perfect blend, with no extremes.

Another reason Bucks dominates is safety. Fear of being mugged or raped is not a huge concern. The crime rate is superb for this area. Even Neshaminy High School has a very low rate of violence. Senior Brent Weaver says, “I feel more safe in Bucks than I did in the dirty south.”

Yet another reason Bucks is incredible is the location. Philadelphia is only 20 minutes away (this of course includes speeding).

We have the little shops in New Hope only 15 minutes away. Tyler Park and Core Creek Park are also right in our vicinity. The turnpike will lead you to Willow Grove, King of Prussia, and the Poconos. Also, we are the only place in America with Sesame Place. How cool is that? The places to go in this area are virtually endless.

Honestly, we have it better than most high school students do. There are numerous things that can be done in Bucks; you just have to be creative. “Bucks is clearly a great suburb.” said senior Chris Rogy.

We agree with Rogy, the main problem is everyone is too closed minded. Boring people should take a trip down south, then maybe they will realize that we are lucky, and open their minds to new ideas.
