The 8th annual Powder
puff game was held on Nov. 22nd at 7:00p.m. in the Harry Frank stadium.
Powder puff is a senior
girls touch football game that has been organized by SAVE for the
last eight years.
This years captains were
Liz Moskus, President of SADD and Rachel Kepner who is president
of SAVE.
This has become
a senior tradition. Many alumni come together at the games and renew
friendships.
It gives the seniors
something to look forward to and it was a great way to start off
the holiday, said head coach Judy Cunningham.
Other coaches of both
teams were Susan Eidenshink and Jennifer Schmidt. The head football
coaches were Bob Gower for the blue team and Jeff Mcdonough for
the red team.
It was fun testing
the football players on their ability to coach unskilled players,
said Danielle Danas. Seniors who participated were separated by
their last names. Last names A-K were placed on the blue team and
letters L-Z were placed on the red team.
A coin toss before the
game left the blue team to decide if they wanted the ball first
or if they wanted to play on the home side of the stadium. They
decided to play on the home side. The red team started the game
with possession of the ball.
Maria Illiano put the
blue team on the board scoring a touchdown in the first quarter
and her second touchdown in the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter,
Liz Moskus went end round scoring a touchdown, giving the red team
a little bit of hope. Then a great play by Nicole Addeo gave the
blue team their third touchdown.
Despite the red teams
fight to the finish, the final score of 20-7 gave the blue team
this years powderpuff victory.
I know all of
the girls looked forward to this since we were in 10th grade. It
was a lot of fun and I encourage all of the underclassman to play
next year, senior Sara Pritchard said.
