| Skiing season
has arrived! |
It is already skiing and snowboarding season again, and a good winter
is scheduled. But with over 30 major skiing mountains and resorts
in Pennsylvania who knows which ones to choose.
What mountains give the best deal? What mountains are best for beginners,
intermediates and experts? The following information will help those
snow bunnies out.
Beginners should try to stay away from mountains that have a lot of
black diamonds, or expert trails. If accidently sking down one of
these hills, a world of pain will surley follow.
By using the shape guides one can determine the level of difficulty
of the slopes.
Skier Christinia Savage said, "I love going on the school ski
club trip to Killington, Vt. It's definitatly the best resort: slope
and trail-wise."
Good mountains for beginners would be something like Bear Creek or
Camelback. Both offer a generous variety of beginner trails to learn
on.
Marisa Hagerman said, "Personally, I would go with Camelback
because it has more trails and over all it is a better mountain."
A mountain that should be taken into consideration for intermediates
would be Seven Springs in Champion, Pa. It is in the western part
of the state, so it is a little bit of a hike from here, but the $25
lift ticket makes it worthwhile.
But, if looking for something a little bit closer, one may want to
consider Blue Mountain or Big Boulder/Jack Frost.
These mountains arent much than two hours away and they are
great mountains for any skill level.
For experts, Elk Mountain is not a bad choice. It consists of 45 percent
expert trails. None of these are double diamond trails, but they still
offer a decent challenge.
Jack Frost is also good for expert trails. When buying a lift ticket,
entrance to Big Boulder is included as well.
Overall there are many mountains in Pennsylvania, some near and some
far. Each one offers an assortment of slopes and nice facilities for
the public to use. Either way with the oncoming winter season, skiing
should be an enjoyable experience for everyone. |
