| Girls'
basketball set their sights on winning season |
Ladies and gentlemen, the
girls basketball season is off to a winning start. The team
this year has many valuable players contributing to the varsity squad
making them a key competitor for the SOL title.
The coach of the girls basketball team, Angie Scarengelli, has
much experience and knows how to end seasons with winning records.
When asked about her thoughts on the team, Scarengelli stated, We
have a quick team. Well have a good year.
The only drawback with the team may be the fact that they are young.
However, the season still has a great outlook.
The captains for this year consist of Alicia McGinty, and Sara Camilli.
Other key players that will contribute much to the team are Juniors
Nicole Scardino, Dana Koch, Kim Thomas, and sophomore Lindsay OConnell.
So far this season, the 'Skins have managed a record of 3-2. With
wins most recently over St.Basil, Shipley, and Martin Luther King.
The hard fought losses were to Arch Bishop Wood and Conwell Egan.
The defeat over Martin Luther King was an amazing victory with the
lady 'Skins winning by a score of 82-21.
Alicia McGinty is averaging 15 points a game while Sara Camilli has
an average of 4 steals a game. McGinty scored her career best of 31
points in a losing effort agains Conwell Egan.
McGinty commented, The team is full of hardworking girls. The
team is learning fast and will improve a lot more by the end of the
season.
Upcoming games include Council Rock, Pennsbury and North Penn. These
games will be hard fought wins.
Council Rock is considered to be one of the more dominant teams in
the league but the 'Skins are up to the challenge.
Anything and everything is bound to happen this season. The experience
throughout the season should pay off in the end. Watch out for the
'Skins when playoffs role around.
