The Neshaminy girls track team will not let the cold winter keep
them back. As the indoor season approaches, the girls gear up for
their workout outside.
The lady redskins will
kick off the start of their season on Saturday, Dec. 9, at Kutztown
University.
Since there are no indoor
tracks around here, the girls will travel to Kutztown University,
Lehigh Universiy, Penn State University, or Princeton University
to compete.
"It is hard at times
to get motivted to workout because it is so cold outside. But we
just put on our hats and gloves, and run outside. It makes us tough,"
said senior captain Angela Miles.
The indoor season looks
very promising. Just off of a great cross country season, the Neshaminy
distance runners are ready to compete.
"We had such a great
cross country season, and we are all very exicted to continue our
success in indoor track," said Miles.
Head coach Steve Harnish
will be coaching his first year of indoor track at Neshaminy. Harnish
was an assistant coach last winter. He was head coach for the girls
cross country team, and will take over the entire track program.
"We have a very
diversified group this year. We have many seniors who I will look
to for leadership, but we also have very many talented underclassmen,"
said Harnish.
Harnish hopes to see
great performances in the distance and middle distance events. Last
year 4X800 relay team of Michele Stahl, Angela Miles, Erin Vaccaro,
and Tara Ebert qualified for the state meet. All four runners will
be returing.
Katrina Asciolla, Miles, and Vaccaro, and Julie Malloy will round
out the distance events.
Look for Liz Moskus,
Jamie Ryan, Kristen Malloy, and Ebert to contribute great performances
in the jumps.
