Heaven in Children of the Sky

In a world where magic ceases to be the norm and ancient legends are no longer regarded as truth, four boys and girls are ready to make a difference, and a scornful world will be forced to believe once again.

“Children of the Sky,” a stunning fantasy novel by 18-year-old Lianne Sentar of Middletown, CT, takes place in the world of Dalia during the Northern year of 1383.

Of all the stars in the sky, there are five that glow green and are recognized as being the Five Great Stars, to which the world prays. The biggest star, Cerkin, stays fixed in the sky-its position never changes.

The four remaining stars Staliktis, Folltaer, Sordin, and Halitan, orbit Cerkin. In this world, there is a legend that when the Five Great Stars line up, five babies with green eyes and black hair will be born to the world: the children of the stars.

Among the five, one child will turn his back on his siblings, which will lead to a fight to the death, and leaves off for a grand finale that douses the reader with a pail of frigid water as it insists on being heard.

Led by two Teriners named Sabrina and Lucas, the reader is drawn into a vivid world of fantasy and a journey so great, that once the page is turned, it is impossible to put the book down until the final page is read.

“This novel was fantastic! It was so well-written that it would appeal to a reader of any age, and it captivated my attention from page one!” raved Junior Susan Cordek.

How could a world of such fantasy be brought to life in such vivid detail? “I get inspired by movies, anime, comic books, novels, etc., and that helps,” mused Sentar. “I like to daydream a lot and sometimes all sorts of great ideas pop up in my head that way. This may sound odd, but I do a lot of novel planning in the shower, too. I used to practice lines from COTS in there!”

COTS was originally born as another storyline entirely. “COTS was actually inspired by a piece of Sailor Moon fanfiction I had been planning out. There were certain qualities of that fanfic that I liked, and I played around with them a bit, and then a whole new story emerged.

“The final version of COTS took a lot of time and revision, though; when I first began writing it, it was very different. For example, Salias and Derin didn’t even exist!”

She had written the company to say that they should hire a fanfiction author to write the novels, and they wrote back saying that she should apply for the position. “It was a total shock, not to mention a total dream come true [when I was hired]!” enthused Sentar. “My youth had been a selling point, apparently; young people writing for young people and all of that...it makes sense to me!”

Every aspiring dreamer should take a tip from Sentar-just try your hardest.
