Looking Back - 1962

In 1962, the annual Gym Night underwent some surprising changes. The system of determining the red and blue teams was changed from alphabetical order to team placement by gym classes.

This change was made to alleviate the inconvenience of assembling the large groups after school hours and finding appropriate gym space. The new system would allow for practices during the school day, in gym classes.

It was suggested that points be given for decorations and sportsmanship. Along with this many students complained that participants should have the opportunity to compete in more than one event. It was also the first year students were allowed to sit in the stands and watch.

These suggestions have been in effect ever since; changing and improving Gym Night forever.
