Everyday after school the gyms, fields and pools
are filled with aspiring athletes. These athletes put their hearts
into every practice and game.
For some reason this has been overlooked by reporters
and journalists. For the last month the positive aspects of Neshaminy
have been placed aside.
Has the nation been informed about students like
senior Jack Flemming, senior Alicia McGinty, junior John Denny,
senior Trisha Hefner, junior Dan Buschmann and numerous other exceptional
competitors?
These athletes partaking in various physical and
mental challenges everyday.
Athletes today participate in year round activities
for their sports, Sheila Murphy, the co-curricular administrator,
said.
Flemming and Denny are excellent examples of such
dedication. Both are members of the wrestling team and both placed
second at districts in their weight class.
The boys and girls basketball teams
contain never-ending talent from all of their team members. The
boys basketball team made it all the way to the playoffs and
holds this years Suburban One League title.
This years record for most points scored on
the girls basketball team was seized by McGinty. She helped
her team make it to the playoffs and set one of their best season
records.
Varsity squad member, Hefner, currently holds the
title of second All Suburban Cheerleader. Ive been in
cheerleading since I was five. Its been a huge part of my
life, Hefner exclaimed.
Bushmann, another individual athlete who has worked
his way to the top, will be competing in two events at this years
swimming state competition.
Nine members of the girls track team participated
in six events at states. They have broke four school records this
year showing how they reach the finish line.
We sure are very proud of the athletes and
coaches who represent Neshaminy, Murphy stated. We set
very high standards for their behavior and success.
