Jazz talent set to take stage

 

An evening filled with expressive jazz music, educational encounters and remarkable success awaits several local jazz bands.

Exhilarating performances will be given by Council Rock, Pennsbury, Medill Bair, William Tennant, Archbishop Carroll, Central Bucks West and Lower Merion.

The Tenth Annual Neshaminy High School Jazz Festival will take place on Friday, March 30. The adjudicated events start at 6:15 p.m. in the Theodore Kloos Auditorium.

Senior Matt Clauhs, a member of the jazz band has been selected to be a member of Pennsylvania All-State Jazz Band. He is one of five alto saxophonist in the state to be selected.

The All-State Jazz Band will perform at the Pennsylvania Music Educators Conference in Hershey April 19-21.

"I wouldn't have made it without teachers like Mr. Lipton and Dr. Boccuti to prepare me, and musicians like Gregg Mervine and Tom Cullen to inspire me," Clauhs commented of his most recent musicial success.

Other talented musicians Nathan Martian, Rachel Pacheco, Johnathan Toner and Stephanie Walkowski have been selected for Regional Band.

The award winning Neshaminy Jazz Band, under the new direction of Paul Morris, features a total of 20 performing muscians. All of which will take the stage at the festival.

The Brian Pastor Big Band, one of the Philadelphia areas finest, will be making a special appearance.

Tickets can be purchased at the door. They are $5 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens.
