Taking Your Talent to the Web by Jeffrey Zeldman It's clear, entertaining, and insightful. The full title of this book is Taking Your Talent to the Web: Making the Transition from Graphic Design to Web Design. While the book is intended for those making that transition, it's a worthwhile read for anyone interested in effective Web design.

Web Redesign : Workflow That Works by Kelly Goto, Emily Cotler This comprehensive book is a must-read for professional Web designers (or site owners). It covers the process of developing (or redesigning) a Web site, including workflow, common pitfalls, and more -- everything from planning to maintenance. It also provides handy references, including a client survey and budget tracker.

Information Architecture for the World Wide Web by Louis Rosenfeld, Peter Morville This book does a great job of tackling the important subject of Web site content organization, a topic that must be understood in order to build successful sites.

 
     
 

What is Flash? Flash is an multimedia format developed specifically for use on the Web. Flash uses vector graphics and allows for complete control and synchronization of sound and animation. Netscape 4.5 supports it as a native file format, as will all new browsers. It does, however, require a plug-in for viewing on older browsers.
