Creating Your Dial-Up Connection  Windows 98 PPP/Dial-Up Networking Setup

Once Dial-Up Networking has been installed, double-clicking My Computer should open a window that has this icon displayed:

Double-click this icon to open the Dial-Up Networking panel, which looks like the following:

Double-click the "Make New Connection" icon to start the New Connection wizard.

A new panel will appear, asking for a name for the computer you are dialing (I recommend using your ISP's name).  You'll also be prompted to select which modem if you have more than one.  If no modems are listed, you should first configure one.

Once you have the name and modem selected, click Next.

You'll now see:

Enter the phone number of your ISP, then click Next.

You'll be presented with:

Click Finish to complete the Wizard.  Now, within the Dial-Up Networking window, you should see:

For most ISPs, no further configuration is needed - you can now go on to Logging in to your ISP.  However, if your ISP requires you to enter an IP address (static) or specific DNS entries, please first go to Additional Configuration Entries.
