Buffalo!

When you hear that word, you had better be holding a beer in your left hand, or you may be chugging it down!  The primary drinking game of the Pilsner Open is based on a rather easy concept, but there are a few rules that you need to abide by to keep from finishing your beer a lot earlier than you expected:

  1. If someone is touching, holding or, of course, drinking alcohol with the right hand and someone calls BUFFALO! during the act, then that person shall chug-a-lug their drink.
  2. The only exception to the above rule is when you are “double fisting”.  However, in that case you must only ever drink from the beverage in your left hand.  If you drink from the beverage in your right hand while double fisting, you can be buffaloed.
  3. If you call someone on a buffalo and you are mistaken, you can be called on a “false buffalo”.  If it is determined that you have called a false buffalo, then you must chug-a-lug your drink as though you have been buffaloed yourself (the person you false buffaloed does not have to drink).
  4. If you think you have been false buffaloed and the buffaloer does not agree with you, you can appeal the buffalo to a committee.  Choose three Pilsner members in the vicinity and state your case.  If your argument is taken as correct, then the other person has committed a false buffalo.  If your argument is not taken as correct, you are now “double buffaloed!” and have to chug-a-lug two beers.  Would you like to appeal again?
  5. Buffaloes, to be true, should be consumed in one go.  However, the executive committee understands that some of you are not the men that the rest of us are, so we will allow a three-gulp finish, taking no more than one minute to complete the buffalo.  Failure to adhere to this more than generous time constraint will result in the assessment of another buffalo, and so on.  Finishing a buffalo in within the allotted time is a pride thing.  Those who choose to not adhere to the spirit of the buffalo will immediately lose respect among the other members and risk their membership in future Pilsner Opens.
  6. Other than drinking Molson products, buffalo is the primary focus of the Pilsner Tour, far ahead of golf.  Learn the rules and you will be rewarded with the pleasure of watching others downing their drinks.  Fail to learn (and apply) the rules and you will not only be a constant source of amusement for the other members, but soon you will be lying in a gutter wondering where you mommy is!
