CHARACTER SKETCHES
Here's a guide to who's who in the YJK universe. These sketches are based *solely* on information from the YJK novels, and don't include facts from the content of my story (or stories, eventually).
Jacen
Solo: Human; age (as of YJK novels) 14-16; son of General Han
Solo (semi-ret) and New Republic Chief of State Leia Organa Solo; sister
Jaina (twins) and younger brother Anakin. As descendants of the Skywalker
family, Jacen and his sister inherited great power in the Force, and so
are studying to become Jedi Knights at the Jedi Academy on Yavin IV. Jacen
has an uncanny ability to communicate with other living things, and so
keeps a large collection of pets and specimens in his room. The more easygoing
of the twins, Jacen is often said to look like a younger clone of his father.
He has a penchant for telling bad jokes, especially to Tenel Ka, in an
ever unsucessful campaign to make her smile. Despite this, he can be very
serious and tends to feel things very deeply, both loyalty-- to his friends
and family-- and responsibility-- to his role as a future Jedi. He feels
great guilt over the accident he was involved in with Tenel Ka.
Tenel
Ka Chume Ta’ Djo: Human, age (as of YJK
novels) 14-16; daughter of Prince Isolder of Hapes and Princess Tenenniel
Djo of Dathomir (from the novel "The Courtship of Princess Leia"); no siblings.
A proud and determined warrior girl, she takes more after the rugged, spartan
ways of her mother’s planet than the plush royal life of her father’s,
being rebellious enough to take her Force potential to the Academy. She
has gray eyes, long red-gold hair she usually wears with several decorated
braids, and wears a somewhat brief outfit of tanned reptile hides. Tenel
Ka likes to rely on her physical abilities before her Jedi skills, a pride
that cost the girl her left arm. Dueling with Jacen, her poorly- constructed
lightsaber failed, allowing Jacen’s sword to sever it. Having well-learned
not to rely solely on her physical abilities and to open herself more to
the aid of the Force, she has decided to continue her training without
the aid of a prosthetic.
Jaina
Solo: Human; age (as of YJK novels) 14-16; daughter of General
Han Solo (semi-ret) and New Republic Chief of State Leia Organa Solo; brother
Jacen (twins) and younger brother Anakin. Jaina’s talent lies in machinery
and electronics-- the young Jedi student is forever tinkering or repairing
something. With brown hair and brandy-brown eyes, she takes more after
her mother’s looks. Her personality, however, comes from her father, so
despite usually being a better planner, she is also the more reckless and
adventuresome.
Lowbacca
("Lowie"): Wookiee;
age (as of YJK novels) about 17 in Human terms; nephew of Chewbacca; younger
sister. Breaking family tradition, Lowie followed his uncle towards adventure
and joined the Jedi Academy. His Jedi abilites manifest themselves in a
special talent with computers, and so he spends a lot of time tinkering
with Jaina. Lowie understands Basic, but because most people do not understand
Wookiee, he carries a small translator droid, Em-Teedee (Mobile Translator
Droid), that speaks with the attitude and voice of its programmer, See
Threepio.
Zekk: Human; age (as of YJK novels) 15-17; orphan; no siblings. Zekk grew up hopping star freighters to keep from being placed in foster care until he came to the New Republic capital planet of Coruscant, where he made a living as a scavenger. There he would use his then-unknown Jedi talent to find valuables where no one else could. He was recruited by the Second Imperium’s Shadow Academy and trained as a Dark Jedi, but thanks to his long-time friends Jacen and Jaina, he was turned and decided to become a bounty hunter. Eventually, he returned to Yavin IV to train as a Jedi.
Luke Skywalker: Human; age (as of YJK novels) about 40; son of Anakin Skywalker (Darth Vader); sister Leia Organa Solo (twins). Deciding that, despite the establishment of the New Republic, the galaxy was sorely in need of protectors, the Jedi Master estabished a Jedi Academy on the jungle moon that once housed a Rebel base-- Yavin IV. There, he oversees the training of the next generation of Jedi Knights, among them his niece and nephew.
Mara Jade: Human; age (as of YJK novels) about 35. A Force-talented individual, she served the Empire as Palpatine’s personal asassin, "the Emperor’s Hand." After sharing an adventure with Luke Skywalker, she was turned to the light side and began a career as a smuggler. (Included because she appears in a story)
