EARTH'S CHANGING CLIMATE
Will New Orleans be the next Atlantis?

'Already an average 8 feet below sea level, two decades of research shows that New Orleans is sinking 3 feet per century, nearly 10 times the global rate. The Gulf of Mexico currently swallows land at the mouth of the Mississippi at the rate of 25 square miles per year.'  A centuries long effort to harness the Mississippi River has resulted in less soil and nutrients settling within the delta. This soil has been washing away at an alarming rate, leaving the New Orleans area unprotected.

FRANKENFOOD

Flashback to the sci-fi flick 'The Invasion of the Killer Tomatoes!'-- sixteen years later, tomatoes are the first food experimented on by biotechnologies. Think the tomatoes in your BLT won't contain fish genes? They might!

At the present time, one-half of all food within the US is genetically altered. Overseas countries have ban all food exported by the US that has been bio-engineered. Has the United States rushed into Frankenfood production before knowing the consequences to fauna and flora, as well as to humankind?

threatens wildlife

Scientists manipulate procreation to produce exact copies of existing life forms, and that have never existed before on earth.

Near misses -- future extinctions?
The question is not 'if', but 'when' the next astroid or comet will collide with earth. Scientiets, with the aid of satellites, are discovering unknown craters caused by earlier collisions.

Dec. 6, 1977   SF11, a mile wide astroid was predicted to collide with earth in 2028! After further calculations, astronomers reported to  the press the astroid would miss the earth.

PREDICTION:
Near misses and hits are ppredicted by astonomers. Entire countries could be wiped out by an asteroid, or comet. But, if an ocean took a direct hit, the outcome could be even more disasterous! Tsunamis could circle the globe several times, and flood the coastal regions up to 1000 miles. This would cause more deaths, than a land hit, because approximately  80% of mankind lives near the coasts.

PRESENT:
Replicators of Star Trek fame are now being used in manufacturing to make molds.

PREDICTION:
Replicators will be the next frontier on the internet! No longer must we tromp to the nearest mall--consumers will simply purchase their needs over the internet, which will be replicated much like printers work today.

Are frogs in our future?   PRESENTfroggy

Frogs throughout the world have been mysteriously dying. Scientists have now found the virus responsible for the alarming decrease in frog species.  Is a virus the only culprit? Does a virus explain the mutant frogs found with missing limbs, three eyes or two heads, or is there a more sinister answer?

PREDICTION:

Plant and animal species are now becoming extinct at a faster rate than ever before in the history of the world. Unfortunately, extinction is forever, or it? Will cloning, morphing and replication be the answer?

PRESENT:
Animal and plant species are becoming extinct at an alarming rate. Throughout earth's history, approximately one or two species became extinct each century. Within the last decade, thousands of species became extinct!

PREDICTION:
Longevity to the highest bidder.

FRANKENFOOD
spells end to Monarch butterflies?

Scientists have tracked the death of Monach butterflies to Bio-engineered corn fields. Corn pollen, according to experts, isn't allowed to escape. However, the pollen has contaminated ajoining milkweed plants, which is the staple food of Monach butterflies. Over 75% of the insect's population has been affected by the Frankenfood corn pollen, and has perished.

Frankenfood geneticly engineered food endangers wild animals and insects

PREDICTION:
Research will uncover the genetic and environmental components of disease.
PRESENT:
FRANKENFOOD: food for today,
food for the future... GM food will soon be able to increase yields, reduce chemical costs by growing insect resistance plants--fewer crops will be lost to disease and drought.

"Prince Charles thinks that 'this kind of genetic modification of crops is taking mankind into realms that belong to God, and to God alone'. "

Backlash

PRESENT:
Two thirds of Hawaii's indigenous plant and animals are nearly extinct. Within twenty years, Hawaii's native plan and animal life will be crowded out and replaced with imported species.

PREDICTION:
While efforts are being made in Hawaii to preserve endangered species in gardens and nurseries, large portions of earth's ecosystem has not been so fortunate. A 'Disposable Earth' mentality will last well into the new milennium.

CLONE YOUR PET

Parting is such sweet sorrow, but cloning may be your answer. Companies now offer eternity for your pets. A painless snip of your pet's skin, taken by your local veterinarian for DNA, will be stored until cloning becomes available.

DollyPREDICTION
Cloning will provide one answer to bring back our pets, our spouses,
endangered species and YOU! But will it be the same at first. Will scientists ever be able to replicate or clone copies exactly as the originals? Home cloning kits will be available.
