Ground Station Calibration

It is proposed to use the KaTE experiment for calibration of the new European Deep Space infrastructure.

Both ESA and ASI proposed to built new large aperture antennas, for Deep Space communications. The ESA station is located in Perth, Australia whereas the Italian antenna will be located in Sardinia.

The experiment aims to provide a calibration source in space for the use during commisioning and test of these antennas. Both X-band and Ka-band frequency bands could be tested.
