Dear Deb
I have a problem. I cannot stand any of my in-laws. Especially my mother
in-law. How can I divorce my husbands family, but not him?
Hello and thank you for your question. This seems to be a pretty common
dilemma suffered by many women. However I have a few thoughts on the subject
<eg>
Your mission should you decide to accept it:
Since Easter is coming, or Passover whichever you celebrate, maybe you
could invite the in laws over for a festive meal.
Make everything perfect, set the table nicely, have great munchies laid
out, drinks etc. Now here comes the kicker....make the absolutely worst meal
that you can think of, don't use any seasonings, or condiments, burn and
overcook everything! You get the idea. Just make sure you act perfectly normal
as you are serving and then eating (yes, some suffering will be necessary
on your part) Look at it this way, what's a little more suffering. Now by
the time dinner ends, which should be pretty quick, I am almost positive
they will make their excuses to leave, to go get something to eat elsewhere.
LOL If your husband questions you about the food, burst into tears, and run
saying I tried to make everything so perfect for your family, especially
your Mother!! (whilst running out of the room). This will give instant guilt
to your husband, and therefore he will stick up for you to your Mother-in-law
when she tries to tell your husband you can't cook, which hopefully will
cause a rift between them and voila', you have your Mission Impossible
accomplished!
Bon Appetite! And Happy Easter and Passover everyone!!!!
(If YOU have a question for "Dear
Deb" then be sure to send it in quickly. We can't always guarantee
a quick response, as she is a VERY busy lady, but we'll get through your
questions as quickly as possible).
