This month of May -- spring, flowers, Mother's Day and we should start thinking about the shower for Kathleen (A SAPS sister who is expecting a baby).

Mother's Day

Try very hard to eat the breakfast in bed that the children and your favorite stud muffin have made for you. Do NOT think about the mess in the kitchen.

After you have opened your gifts etc., tell darling hubby that you wish to take a bath and will need the bathroom for at least an hour. Have the children go potty and daddy shave, if he's going to. Here in MN Mother's Day is the Fishing opener. If you're lucky, maybe you can get Dad to take the children fishing. Anyway, get all your goodies together, fill the tub, lock the bathroom door, put in all the perfumes and good stuff and get a good book and light candles and do your thing.

When your finally all "pruney" and don't want to be wet any more, get out of the tub, get in some comfortable clothes and
straighten up your favorite room in the house -- go to your computer and have fun with your friends, just have yourself a wonderful day and when Daddy comes home with the kids, have him go for take out of some kind. You're certainly not cooking and do not, again I repeat do not go into the kitchen, but suggest that Daddy and the kids clean it up. LOL This will get all of your juices flowing so you can go thru another year of ballet lessons, sporting events, PTA, etc etc etc.

Now for that special shower. Find the decorations that you want at specialty stores. They usually have a better selection and make quite easy to have dishes, cups, table cloths and other decorations that match. Also, if you're going to have a special cake, order it at least a week in advance so if it isn't right, you can have it re-done and put in the freezer. It will keep until party time.

Or, if you're the ambitious type, bake cupcakes from any of the Pillsbury or Betty Crocker boxed cake mixes and frost by making a butter frosting of melted butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and food coloring. You get some very pretty cup cakes and if you still have time, you will have enough for the children and keep them happy, quiet and out of the way.

Sandwiches with the bread cut with cookie cutters can be open faced, and use cheese, ham, beef, chicken, tuna fish, lettuce and tomato and just easy and laid out on a platter in your favorite decorative way, in a buffet. Have your favorite potato salad, and coleslaw and with the cupcakes and maybe ice cream for dessert, all you have to think about is the games you and the girls will want to play. Seeing that there is paper and pen for someone to keep track of the gifts and best of all enjoy each other. Lots of hugs and pictures and of course, if you have one, a camera to take VCR pictures and copies to all of us. LOL

Last but not least, it will be coming on to summer vacation and the children will be home and you will be busy trying to keep cool. Make sure that everything is refrigerated and not left out in the heat. Let's all stay well.

Have a great Mother's Day. And a wonderful Memorial Day, and let the Italian Stallion do the BAR-B-Q thing and keep things easy and fun.

If you need recipes or ideas, write me and I can either send you some or send you to places that will help you with any of your party or dinners.

Have a very happy month
