Then you figure it out.  Maybe the Spacers got away before you made it onto the pirate ship.  If that's true, then they could already be working to stop Lothair.  Hoping to catch up with them, you head back for the gangway you used to get onto this ship.

    Just as you reach the top of the gangway, however, you hear footsteps below.  You look down the gangway from the door at the top, and you see their feet.  They stop at the bottom of the gangway, and begin to talk.

    "Why wasn't a guard posted down here?" one pirate asks.

    "We didn't think anybody would let the slaves go," another pirate says.

    "Next time, don't think!  Just follow your orders!"

    "Yes, sir," the second pirate says.

    "Now, stay put here and don't let anybody else get onto the ship," the first pirate says.

    "Yes, sir."

    After a couple seconds of silence, the first pirate walks away.  Now, how are you going to get away?  You go to the other gangway, the one in the front of the ship, but that one is guarded also.  There's no way off of this pirate ship!

    You have to try to get away.  The guard marches back and forth in front of the gangway.  You decide to make a run for it.
