Spying

By James 'Porphyre' Grahn

Spies would have a multitude of options available. Firstly, spies may be called to engage in the actions described under the heading of "mercenary". They might also be called to carry out tasks usually assigned to the traditional military (if an operation is too sensitive, it might be better assigned to spooks than regulars). But there are a few unique tasks for spies, as well.

1. Covert Ops: Military operations conducted under a shroud of secrecy.

2. Industrial Ops: Industrial espionage might amount to:

a. The assassination of rival corporate heads.
b. The sabatoging of operations (a precision strike, misinformation, or other means)
c. The discovery of secret installations (either from general information or by following someone there).
d. Photographing rival factories/installations.
e. Attacking rival installations.
f. Hacking the computers of rivals for information, to plant misinformation, or to destroy resources.
g. Smuggling out vital data, people, or packages.
3. Freelanced: More properly known as blackmail. Basically, this involves photographing things that aren't meant to be seen and seeing if you can sell the photographs. A snapshot of a secret installation or unidentified ship could bring trouble, but it could also bring fortune if you can get a journal interested or contact whoever wants it to stay a secret...

The Tools of the Trade:

Camera: There are some cases where documentation is needed, and others where it is to be avoided...

Escape Capsule: Just in case, eh?

A Fighter: Having a ship specialized to fight would be an advantage.

Hacking Modules for CenComp: If you're going to hack, these'd be nice.

ID verification: Imprecision is fatal when you're a spy.

System Scanner: Vital for some missions.

Weapons and Defenses: Definately should consider these.
