Murphy's Page
Woof! Woof! Woof! This page is dedicated to and dictated by, Murphy the dog!
Murphy is a Female, Blue Heeler cross Kelpie. She's mainly grey in colour with a little black and tan thrown in for good measure. There is a "star" in the middle of her forehead that is a very bright white. An obvious mark of intelligence if she does say so herself!
A little bit of Murphy's history.
Murphy has two pet people, Scott and Wendy. She has known them for the majority of her life. She first met her two new pets when they were out shopping at a market in a suburb of Melbourne called Moorabin. After watching many potential pets go by, the pet stall owner was growing anxious to off load his charges. With this in mind, Murphy saw Scott and Wendy, thought that they were close enough to suitable and proceeded to charm her way into their life. Much to her disdain, the larger of her prospective pets even had the gall to bargain down her purchase price and with a little "extra" persuasion, even had some extra's thrown in. The extra's were a good idea though. Murphy then found herself being driven and cuddled all the way to Pakenham, Victoria.
As she came accustomed to her new surroundings, she began to become very sick. Losing control of all functions both internal and external, is not a pleasant way to die. If it was not for the intervention of a nice group of people her pets called "The Vet" and a substantial exchange of oblong paper, then Murphy was sure she was headed for the Big Dream.
Life continued and Murphy grew. What started off life as a small bundle of grey Blue Heeler puppy, started to sprout legs and ears. Some of her pets friends cruelly called her names like "bat ears" and "Murphy long-legs". At least her pets defended her honour. It was at about this time that she discovered that she was psychic. She found that if she stared long and hard enough at a ball or stick, she'd be able to force it to fly through the air so she could fetch it back to her pets. It worked every time.
Murphy had many adventures with her pets and their friends. She would often go "Ta Ta's" by jumping into the big car to set off on both big and small journey's. Some of those journey's took them to State Forests where everyone would get dressed in funny costumes and make "Venturers" take part in fun things like acting, building and running through obstacle courses. Other times, her journey's may be just around the street where her pets would go into a big store and she'd get to say hello to all the nice people who walked by.
Murphy grew to love her pets very deeply and hated being apart from them. Infact, one time when she was left to her own devices in the backyard (or as she preferred, her kingdom) she decided to go and find her pets. This involved hurdling the kingdom walls. To her amazement, that was an easier feat than she expected. This discovery led to getting into trouble with her pets on a number of occasions. She even got to meet the nice man who her pets called "The Ranger".
Trouble just seemed to happen around her. Like the time she just happened to find one of her more beautiful pets favourite shoes in her mouth as she was chewing. Another example was the time when she broke her High Tensile Steel Wire dog run. Just because she was leaning over to see what was on the other side of a blade of grass had nothing to do with it. The time when she had a great dream about eating a rather large portion of prime steak and cleaning between her teeth with a toothpick is another example. How that gum tree sapling found its way into her kennel she'll never know.
As she grew, her vocabulary grew as well. Her pet began to develop nick names for her which she dutifully (sometimes reluctantly) answered to, like Skwerfy, Mervin Skwervin, Murph and Skwervy Girl. She started to go to school on a Saturday afternoon and learned to sit, stay, come and heel. She used to like school because she had a chance to play and meet with a large number of dogs.
She found that pets always rename their masters. Just like herself. She had always known that her birth name was "Iron Jaws of Destiny" but had not objected to her new name of Murphy T Dunstan. She was led to believe the T was for "Trouble". Why? She didn't know. At school she met "Claws of Pain" also known as Buster and "The Powerful Snow Queen with sharpened teeth" also known as Akita.
Life was good with her pets. They let her sleep on their bed and if it was really cold, snuggle up with them on the pillows under the doona. They bought her the finest especially balanced dog food and even a fresh steak on a regular basis (only if she'd been a good girl). She was a little worried when her pets bought home a new baby master named "Dew Claw of Death" who was subsequently renamed Bentleigh. "Dew Claw of Death" became like a little brother and was never a threat to her superiority or competition for her pets affection.
Murphy is getting tired of dictating this biography (keyboards were NOT designed for paws!). She has spotted "Dew Claw of Death" wandering around with her favourite bone. As she leaves the room, she's asked me to mention that if she ever finds a Web site that interests her, she'll have me include it on her page.
Thanks to the universe for revolving around her - Murphy T Dunstan (Iron Jaws of Destiny)
