Iris Cara

Appears in: The Ripper and AD. Police 25:00 (The AD. Police Graphic Novel)

Biography

Iris Cara wanted to help the citizens of MegaTokyo survive the chaos and turmoil that plagued them. She chose to dedicate her life to the Normal Police. Iris was young and still wanted to 'give her all' when a case came along that she felt defined what it meant to be human. Caroline Evers was committing murders in Paradise Loop, a drug and sex ring. The Normal Police were going to hand the case of the AD. Police, stating that evidence indicated the assailant was a Boomer, but Iris fought that jurisdiction, telling the others that whoever was killing the prostitutes appeared to be doing so based on a sophisticated emotion such as hate, envy, or anger. Iris was awarded the case which she took with the help of Venessa Bach.

While working on the case Iris was experiencing pain in her eye. She went to the doctor to ask about a cure and the doctor suggested having it replaced with a false eye. Iris was startled by such a thing but later turned around and made fun of Leon McNichol for disliking the idea the same way that Iris had previously. While Iris was at the doctor's office she met Caroline Evers, whom she had overheard arguing with her doctor about having her reproductive organs and much more of her body replaced. Iris soon put two and two together and she and Venessa looked up Caroline Evers in the computer records. Iris began following Caroline through the city. She developed something hardly short of an obsession with Caroline Evers. It was apparent enough that Venessa questioned Iris' sexual orientation.

Iris finally found Caroline in the sewers with some help from Venessa and the AD. Police. She was alone in the sewer so Caroline attacked her openly and destroyed her homing device. She explained to Iris why she had murdered all the prostitutes. Iris told Caroline that whether or not she had most of her body replaced with cybernetic organs, she was still a human. Caroline did not believe this and attempted to stab Iris. At that moment Leon and the other AD. Police arrived and killed Caroline Evers. After seeing how little being human meant, Iris chose to have her eye replaced with a fake one, giving up a part of being human.

Later on Iris began to date Leon McNichol, whom she felt was not particularly reliable for getting to dates on time, or staying at the date for that matter.

Personality

Iris was kind at heart and wanted to help others. She regarded being human as a gift, but over the period of a few days saw this all wash away and be replaced with the truth: Being human meant nothing in a town like MegaTokyo. She wanted to save Caroline Evers from herself but failed which brought down Iris' love of humanity and made her callous to the pain around her. She realized once and for all that giving away a part of being human was not worth putting off just because she had been morally against it.

In the AD.P.G.N. Iris had one or two short scenes in which she yelled at Leon for being late for their date.
