Week 21-40

Week 41: Lunadain, Yarthmont 1st, AC1011, 02:34

Upstairs, in Fernando's Inn

To Kagemaru-

After looking at clain for a while, Fernando turns back to the human and asks (in Elvish) "Lord Windsor, are you alright?"
The human replies (in Elvish, with that Anglais accent and a faint quiver to his voice) "What do you think good sir."
Fernando again looks to you and then back to the elf in the doorway (in Elvish): "Clain?"
The Elf in the doorway finally answers (in Elvish) "Nothing" then to you he very sarcastically says (in Elvish, with very heavy sarcasim): "Would you care to come inside?" and steps aside.

What do you do/say?
To Clain-

Fernando looks at you for quite a while then turns back to the human and asks (in Elvish): "Lord Windsor, are you alright?"
The human replies (in Elvish, with that Anglais accent and a faint quiver to his voice) "What do you think good sir."
Fernando again looks to the other elf and then back to you (in Elvish): "Clain?"
You answer (in Elvish) "Nothing" and then turn to the other elf and say (in Elvish, with very heavy sarcasim): "Whould you care to come inside?" and you step aside.

You don't actually have to do anything this time.

To Marcus-

Its quiet for a moment again but then the third voice asks (in Elvish, sounds like a faint Belcadiz accent): "Lord Windsor, are you alright?"
The first voice replies (in ELvish, with that Anlais accent and a shakeyness to the voice): "What do you think good sir."
Another moment of silence then the third voice says (in ELvish): "Clain?"
finally Clain answers (in Elvish): "Nothing" then turns his head slighlty and says (in ELvish, dripping with sarcasim): "Whould you care to come inside?" and he steps aside.

What do you want to do/say?

Weex 42: Lunadain, Yarthmont 1st, AC1011, 02:35

Upstairs in Fernando's Inn

you wrote:

I take my sword from his back. "Forgive me for my insolence, lord" I say in my elvish dialect. I sheath my sword and say "I accept your invitation. After you."

so:

Clain backs up into the room and the human follows him (his knees are trembeling so much that he can barely walk). You follow them in, allowing the door to close behind you. As it's closing you hear Fernando (in Elvish): "Seiors, at least promise me that I wont have to call a carpenter in the morning". After the door closes you can just barely hear him say "I think I'd better call him."

You begin to quickly survey the room, a standard multiple occupancy inn room, 4 beds. There are two others inside (other than Clain, Lord Windsor, & yourself). The first is a fairly short elf (4'9") and is holding a staff.
Just then the other one says (in ELvish): "Kagemaru?".
You quickly turn to that one and realise, its Marcus. That elf that tried (unsucessfully) to help you control your wild magic.

What do you do/say?

Clain-

The other elf sheath's his sword and says (in Elvish): "Forgive me for my insolence, lord" Then to you he says "I accept your invitation. After you."

So you back up back into the room. The human follows you, although he nearly stumbles because his knees are shaking so much, and then the elf follows him.
As the door is closing behind the elf, you hear Fernando (In Elvish): Seiors, at least promise me that I won't have to call a carpenter in the morning". After the door closes you can just barely hear him say (In Elvihs, muffled): "I think I'd better call him."

The elf begins to scan the room and looks at Sebastien but suddenly Marcus blurts out (in Elvish): "Kagemaru?".

The elf seemed surprised to hear his name and quickly turns to Marcus. He seems surprised to see him.

What do you do/say?

Marcus-

You hear the second voice say (in Elvish): "Forgive me for my insolence, lord.... I accept your invitation. After you."

Clain then backs up into the room. In shuffles a older, balding human who's knees are trembeling, and then a elf. As the door is closing you hear from the hall (in ELvish): "Seiors, at least promise me that I won't have to call a carpenter in the morning." After the door closes, the voice from the hall says something else but it is too muffled to hear.

You suddenly realise who the elf is. Its Kagemaru, That elf who you were sent to help, but were unable to find a way to control his dangerous magic. You blurt out his name in surprise "Kagemaru?" and he quickly turns to you and recognition followed by surprise flow across his face.

What do you do/say?

Week 43: Unfortunately, the record of this weeks is lost, the story
does not progress far though...

Week 44: Lunadain, Yarthmont 1st, AC1011, 02:36

In the Character's inn room.

No one responded, however, I know at least two of you were experiencing
email problems, so I wont penalise the group. I do have to do something
though because this is moving along to slowley. I will have to do
something that I do not like doing, puting words in your characters mouth.
Sorry but I need to get this moveing along more quickly here.

Sebastien had asked (in Elvish): "Marcus, you know him?"
(or was it Clain that said this? I don't remember now and no one sent me
back a copy like I asked so I can't find out.)

Marcus replies with a slight chuckle (in Elvish): "yes... Clain, Sebastien, this is Kagemaru. Kagemaru, this is Sebastien de Montebello y Casanegra, and this is Clain whom you've already met."
Clain asks Marcus (in Elvish): "How on Mystara do you know him?"
Marcus motions for everyone to sit then starts telling the story (in Elvish of course): "Several months after the Alfheim refugees arrived, my guild asked me to look into the case of an Alfheim refugee who seemed to have stumbled upon a dangerous new form of magic. Numerous experts had been called in first but they were all baffled by this new magic. My Guild thought that since I had been trained by a Flaem, I might know something the others wouldn't. I thought it was a waste of time and the whole trip there I was wracking my brains trying to remember anything that might be helpful. I did remember that for about a period of two weeks he, my flaemish tutor, had been excessively concerned about something, and I had overheard him talking with a visiting professor from the great school of Glantri, about an individual from beyond the Adri Varma plateau who seemed to be in control of a powerful new form of magic, but I never heard many details. I finally got there and I met this elf, who was oddly enough named 'Kagemaru'. He could tell some wild tales about the lands north, or was it west, of Wendar. I spent many months trying to understand this magic and help him control it but one day he suddenly left, I haven't seen you since. So why did you just disappear?"
Lord Windsor interupts (in heavily Anglais accented Elvish): "uh, excuse me good sirs, but if this story is going to take a while I'll just be taking my buisness elswhere." and he starts to rise.

What do you do/say?

Week 45: Lunadain, Yarthmont 1st, AC 1011, 02:37

Your in the inn room in Vyonnes, Principality of Nouvelle Averoigne,
Principalities of Glantri

Kagemaru says (in Alfheim Elvish): "Master Marcus tried to help me wield the magic I possess. However, I would like to hear what you were about to say Lord Windsor."
Lord Windsor answers (in the heavily Anglais accented Elvish) although he still seems to be viewing Kagemaru rather skeptically: "Ok. I have a job for some adventuring types such as yourselves, and that Fernando chap suggested I should talk to you. Its a simple job. Retrieve a ring for me. I can tell you right where it is, and I will loan you horses and a guide to take you there, It's not far. What do you say?"
Sebastien jumps in (In Belcaidz elvish): "Wait a minute, If it's that simple, why don't you just do it yourself?"
.......
Lord Windsor replies (in accented Elvish): "There is one minor complication that requires some force to overcome, but I can tell you exactly what it is, and once you know what to be on the lookout for, you shall easily be able to overcome the obstacle."

How do you respond?

Week 46: Lunadain, Yarthmont 1st, AC1011, 02:38

NO one responded! Come on guys! wake up! I can't do this by myself!
What, is a week not enough time to reply in? or is a week too much time?
what? tell me what to do! tell me whats wrong.

Your in an inn room in Fernando's inn in Vyonnes, Principality of Nouvelle
Averoigne, in the Principalities of Glantri.

Sebastien finnaly gets up the nerve to ask something that's been bothering him for some time now, he asks Windsor (In Belcadiz Elvish): "I detect a definate Anglais accent to your speech, that is the language of the Fens. Your a fens, no?"
Lord Windsor replies (in his Anglais accented Elvish): "Very perceptive good man, My family is indeed of the Fens of Laterre."
Sebastien then asks (again in Belcadiz Elvish): "And I heard Fernando call you 'Lord' Windsor.... I was unaware of anyone from the house of Hillsbury being named 'Windsor'."
Lord Windsor seems to get offended at that and replies harshly (again, in Anglais accented Elvish): "Good sir" (that part was said sarcastically, the rest is said somewhat haughtily) "I will have you know that the Hillsburies weren't the only noble Fens to come to Glantri. The house of Windsor came while the Hillsburies were still twiddling their thumbs!" (now he seems to be just talking to the room in general, with some definate anger behind his voice) "To think the great sacrafices my father made to establish our house here, and nowadays when anyone thinks of the Fens, they only think of the Hillsburies!" (turning back to Sebastien) "Lad, my family was established here before Fenswick was even a barony. I would recomend that you learn some history sir." (this guy is even polite when he's talking you down!)
Sebastien replies, somewhat taken aback (in Belcaidz elvish): "I..I..I'm sorry, Its just that the only Fens I've ever known was some stories I swapped with a Merchant from Fenswick in a tavern in Glantri City. He didn't mention anything about any noble families other than The Hillsbury family. I meant no disrespect."
Lord Windsor seems to be calming down again and he says (In Anglais accented Elvish): (He starts off speaking to Sebastien, but seems to start talking more and more to himself) "Of course, why should you know of my family." (he's definately calming down now, and is mostly talking to himself) "Our lands have been vacant for too long, our seat unocupied at the Parliment... But that will change soon..." (now he readress the group) "Which brings me back to you and your services."

What do you say/do?

Week 47: Lunadain, Yarthmont 1st, AC1011, 02:39

Your in an inn room in Fernando's Inn in Vyonnes, in the Principality of
Nouvelle Averoigne, in the Principalities of Glantri.

Kagemaru says (in Alfheim Elvish): "'Tis nice we are making small talk with each other Lord, however, I would like you to elaborate on these 'services' you keep mentioning. My lack of slumber causes my curiosity to reach its highest levels."
Lord Windsor still seems a little warry of Kagemaru (you did stick a blade in his back after all) but he continues (still in elvish with that Anglais accent): "Yes, well... As I mentioned, I need you to retrieve my fathers.... excuse me...I mean my families ring. It should only take two days, most of that traveling time. I will provide horses for the trip as well as a guide to take you to my fathers tower. And I will of course compensate you, say half a Crown each? Thats a good reward for such an easy task, is it not?"

What do you do/say?

Week 48: Lunadain, Yarthmont 1st, AC1011, 02:40

Your in an inn room in Fernando's Inn in Vyonnes, in the Principality of
Nouvelle Averoigne, in the Principalities of Glantri.

Kagemaru replies (in Alfheim Elvish): "Your words bring me relief Lord, however, I just hope that this task is as easy as you say." He scratches his chin and thinks about the monetary compensation. "If what you say is true... half a crown should surfice."
Lord Windsor looks to the others...
Sebastien looks at Clain & Marcus, then says to Lord Windsor (in Belcadiz Elvish): "It would seem we are in agreement"
Lord Windosr smiles, then says (In Anglais Accented Elvish): "Ah, excelent. My search is over. My fathers Tower is a little less than a days ride North East of here. The upper floors of the tower were destroyed in the 'accident', but the bottom two are still intact. A wizard friend of mine has scried for the ring, and has discovered that it lies just inside the main doorway in a pile of the leavings of a lurker. Since you know it is a lurker, you just have to keep your eye on the ceiling and keep it from surprising you. My wizard friend has asked that if you do kill the lurker, that you collect the gas sacs it uses to fly, she would be willing to buy them from you to use in making a potion of levitation. Any other treasure lying about the floor you can have, but please leave family items such as paintings, silverwares and the such alone. Also, do not atempt to ascend the stairs and enter the second floor. My father respected his privacy and laid certain magical measures to ensure it, if you know what I mean. My guide will meet you outside the inn at 6 ocklock sharp with the horses. Do not be late." he says as he starts to leave
Sebastien replies (Again, in Elvish): "We will be there, thank you."
Lord Windsor bids you good night and exits.

Well what do you want to do now?

Week 49: Lunadain, Yarthmont 1st, AC1011, 0241

Everyone,
First off, Sorry for making it seem that Windsor left rudely like that, I
was just trying to move the game along, but I should of given you a chance
to ask questions. Secondly, I allowed Ryan a few weeks ago to say
something about Kagemaru having a beard stubble... Of the Elves, only the
Belcadiz elves can grow facial hair. so I will delete that reference
before I add that weeks to the webpage. Third, does everyone know what a
lurker is? Most adventurers (as well as most D&Ders) would know, So if
you don't know say so and I will expalin what it is. Fourth, your getting
different messages this week.

To Kagemaru,

You say in elvish: "I will be there... as soon I get some sleep." I yawn as I walk back to my room. Sebastien follows you to the door and closes it behind you, as you proceed into your room and close the door.

ok... If you want to change your spell inventory, this is what you must do
since you haven't cast any spells in the last day. You must first
dissipate one or more of your currently memorised spells (just a harmless
letting the magic drain away, no risk or danger from it, but it does take
2min per spell to dissapate). After you rest, you can then memorize from
your spellbook replacement spells which take 10min per spell per spell
level. Keep in mind that you don't have to change your spell inventory,
but if you want to, you need to tell me now so that Kagemaru can wake up
early enough to relearn the spells otherwise he will wake up with only
enough time to get ready and outside by 6.

To Clain & Marcus,

Kagemaru says in elvish: "I will be there... as soon I get some sleep." yawning as he walks back to his room. Sebastien closes the door behind him and then softly asks Marcus (in Elvish): "Marcus, you know this Kagemaru fellow... Can we trust him?"
Marcus thinks for a moment, then softly nodds his head.

So when did everybody want to get up and is there anything you want to do
before 6?

Week 50: Lunadain, Yarthmont 1st, AC1011, 0603

No one responded despite the extension, what's going on people? Mike you
seemed to of dropped of the face of the earth, James I know your out
there, we've been emailing back and forth about other stuff. You two
can't expect Ryan to be the only one replying everyweek (I mean he's been
doing a good job of it aside from this weeks, but out of three players I'm
getting a response rate averaging around 25% or less)(I'm just
guestimating that number).

here we go, since no one replied I presume no one wants to do anything
before we left, so only Sebastien is doing stuff.

Sebastien gets up by 5:50, has time to meditate for spells (asks for and recieves 2 Magical Stones & 1 Cure Light Wounds). He's done with that by 5:55 when everyone else wakes, just before the sunrise a few minutes later. We have just enough time to gather our equipment, and get downstairs and into the courtyard by 6 (Fernando bids us good luck as we pass through the common room).

Despite the early hour, Vyonnes is already stirring and people are going about there business. We spot two humans standing by a group of horses (6 horses). One human is probaly no more than 12 or 13 years of age. He's dressed in simple closes but is wearing what appear to be quality riding boots. The other human is early 20's, He has black hair that is slightly curly and has a slight mustache and beard only around his chin. He's dressed in a Black robe.

They notice you and motion you over. The boy starts speaking in Thyatian almost hesitatantly, not sure if we speak Thyatian. Only Sebastien does so he translates what the boy is saying into Elvish for the others: "We must be them, Lord Windsor sent them. His name is Brian Kempe and he is a stable hand for Lord Windsor and he will take us to the tower." The boy now motions to the other as he continues to talk in Thyatian and Sebastien translates into Elvish: "And this is Gianbattista Oliviero degli Olivieri, Lord Windsor wants him to record this mission..."
At this point Gianbattista politely interrupts in Belcadiz Elvish (actually, his elvish isn't too bad, you could almost forget it was a human speaking it, almost) "Of course I'm very glad to fulfill every thing my lordship asks me... I'm ready to start as soon as possible"

Any questions?

Week 51: Lunadain, Yarthmont 1st, AC1011, 1152

Hello? testing 1-2-3, IS THIS THING ON??

come on people. Well you missed out on a good chance for some info.

We all mount the horses and depart Fernando's Inn. We ride across town at a slow pace so as to avoid awaking those residents that may still be sleeping at this early hours. Were heading north east through town, and we cross the Loir river over a small rickety bridge just at the endge of town. We turn and begin following the river north. We pass along some more Vineyard and a few farms as the river slowly starts to curves toward the North-North West and heads towards the hills. About 1 Path (mile) before the river enters what could be called the true hills, while in some land that is just begining to gently roll, Brian turns us away from the river and directs us North-West (still heading towars the hills), after first stopping to water the horses in the river. At first it seems that young Mr. Kempe is just blindly going North West, but once you start looking for a trail you can notice the faintests of signs of previous travel... a few have come and gone this way, but it definately wouldn't be called a trail or anything. We head into the hills (entering them a little after 8:30am) and continue on a roughly North-West path, but we often have to take wide meanders around individual hills and such. As the day goes on we can begin to make out a range of mountains up ahead.

Its been a uncomfortably quiet trip so far and as we stop for a midday-meal, we have a good view of the mountain range (Brian had passed out some victuals from the pack horses sacks). Sebastien asks Gianbattista about them
Sebastien (in Elvish): "Which mountains are those?"
Gianbattista replies (also in Elvish): "It's a spur of the Aalban mountains, which actually in themselves are spur of the Wendarian Ranges. This spur seperates the Isoile Valley from the Aalban."
Sebastien (in Elvish): "Were not going to have to enter those are we?"
Gianbattista (in Elvish): "oh no, Lord Windsor's family estate isn't even half way up the hills"
Sebastien (in Elvish): "ah, good."

Is there anything else you want to ask? either as were finishing luch or
on the rest of the trip?

Week 52: Lunadain, Yarthmont 1st, AC1011, 1154

Wow, we actually got a 50% response rate. that's defianetly better
everyone!

One of the replies is to basically just 'sit & watch' but he really did a
good job of putting that simple command into a 'in character' quote so I
wanted to work it into the record.

Kagemaru replied:
I just look and listen to the conversation. I want to listen for anything important to my personal vendetta of revenge.

After you finish your meal you've noticed Gianbattista carefully watching us (Clain, Marcus, Kagemaru, & Sebastien), before he says (in Elvish): "why did you leave from your countries? you obviuosly aren't Glantrian..." he asks as young Brian begins packing up for the rest of the trip.

How do you reply?

Week 52B: Lunadain, Yartmont 1st, AC1011, 1154

Sebastien says to Gianbattista (In perfect Glantrian Thyatian): "Vestir falsas consissor... Aloundevia Novus Alvar". (then he switches to Becladiz Elvish): "As for them, you'll have to ask them..."

Week 52C: Lunadain, Yarthmont 1st, AC1011, 1155

Gianbattista asks you 3 (Kagemaru, Clain, & Marcus)(in Elvish): "Where are you from? obviuosly you aren't glantrian and so why did you left your country? After this work have already thought about your future works?" he asks as we rise and prepare to remount the horses for the rest of the trip to the tower.

How do you want to answer?

PS If you want, you can check out a character I'm hopeing to play in
someone elses campaign. I liked the elven archer kit (like Clain) so
well, that I decided to try playing one. If the DM approves the
character, I finish it off, so right now its still incomplete. Check out
Mendaril, a Vyallia elf archer:
http://www.fortunecity.com/tattooine/spock/67/mendaril.html

Week 53: Lunadain, Yarthmont 1st, AC1011, 1156

Well we had a very unusual response from one of the players (the only one
to respond actually) and since it was just under the deadline I didn't
have time to talk him out of it, so here goes...... oh and don't blame me
for this!

Asides from this intro, your each getting different messages.

You just finished lunch on the trail to 'Lord' Windsor's estate, and Gianbattista had just been trying to start some conversation on a trip that had been uncomfortably quiet so far. Clockwise everyone is positioned in a rough circle as follows: Sebastien, Marcus, Clain, Kagemaru, Gianbattista, & then your back to Sebastien (remeber Brian is over by the horses roughly behind Kagemaru & Clain).

to Gianbattista,

You asked your question and had just finished rising, and everyone else is starting to rise. You just bearly notice that while Clain is rising he also draws his dagger, and he suddenly takes a backhanded-swing at your neck! you just bearly escape being nicked by that blade by about a Digitus (half an inch) {-5 penalty for called shot: Neck, +2 bonus for surprise, 7(10)} largely saved thanks to the natural human reaction to jerk back from sudden movement.
Everyone else (Marcus, Kagemaru, & Sebastien) jumps to their feet (and slighlty back) in surprise and shock, Sebastien even proclaiming (in Heavy Belcadiz Elvish) "Ay Caramba!".
Clain again swings for you with a forward thrust, and you just bearly manage to stumble out of the way {3(7)}, but you trip and fall to the ground.
Out of the corner of your eye you see Brian seeing this and he runs around to the other side of the horse and begins digging through the saddle bag furiously, but you don't have time to notice any more as your attention becomes focused on Clain as he is begining to make a overheaded, downward thrust, and in your prone position he's unlikely to miss.... The sun flashes off the metal of his dagger as he brings it down toward you, but suddenly something swings up from underneath and the left, and knockes Clain's hand and sends the dagger flying {-4 penalty for caleld shot: swinging arm/weapon, +2 bonus for surprise, 13(11)}. Some one steps over you (back to you, facing Clain) and you hear Sebastien yell (in Belcadiz Elvish) "Clain, WHAT IN THE HUECOS ARE YOU doing?!?"

What do you want to do/say (keep in mind your on your back on the ground,
with Sebastien standing over you, and your still in shock)

to Kagemaru,

As everyone is starting to rise, out of the corner of your eye you notice Clain drawing his dagger as he is rising. Before you can say anything he lunges for Gianbattista with a vicious backhanded swing for his throat. {-5 penalty for called shot: Neck, +2 bonus for surprise, 7(10)} Gianbattista is saved only by about 1 Petal (half an inch), mainly due to the natural human reaction to jerk back from sudden movement.
Since you had started to react when you saw him drawing the blade, you are the first to jump to your feet.
Marcus and Sebastien jump to their feet (and slighlty back) in Shock and Surprise, Sebastien even blurts out (in Heavy Belcadiz Elvish): "Ay Caramba!"
Clain slashes forward at Gianbattista, who just bearly manages to stumble out of the way {3(7)}, but he trips and falls to the ground. Clain steps forward again and raises his dagger over his head, about to swing down, taking advantage of Gianbattista's prone position. You see Sebastien suddenly swing out underneath Clain's swing and up (You haddent noticed when Sebastien got his staff as you were too busy taking in what was happening with Clain). Sebastien knocks upward into Clain's hand moving down and sends the dagger flying {-4 penalty for caleld shot: swinging arm/weapon, +2 bonus for surprise, 13(11)}. Sebastien steps over Gianbattista and recovers from his swing and then yells (In Belcadiz Elvish): "Clain, WHAT IN THE HUECOS ARE YOU doing?!?" (he's now standing over Gianbattista facing Clain.)

What do you want to do/say?

I also figured you might of forgoten what spells you have memorized
currently (since we hadn't talked about it since back at MHS): you
currently have Detect Magic, Chill Touch,
Patternweave, Misdirection, Invisibility (which
doesn't have to be cast on your self, just anyone you touch), & Nahal's
Nonsencial Nullifier memorized.

to Marcus,

Suddenly, Clain draws his dagger and leaps for Gianbattista taking a wild backhanded swing to attempt to slice his throat {-5 penalty for called shot: Neck, +2 bonus for surprise, 7(10)} Gianbattista is saved only by about 1 Petal (half an inch), mainly due to the natural human reaction to jerk back from sudden movement.
Kagemaru jumps to his feet in shock and surprise.
You jump to your feet and slightly back too!
Sebastien, as he jumps to his feet proclaims (in Heavy Belcadiz Elvish): "Ay Caramba!"
Clain is undettered though and slashes forward at Gianbattista {3(7)} and Gianbattista just barely manages to back out of the way but he falls over onto the ground.
Brian sees this and runs around to the other side of the horse and starts furiously digging through the saddle bag for something, but no-one notices because everyone's eyes are fixed on Clain & Gianbattista.
Clain begins a downward thrust to take advantage of Gianbattista's prone position, but during his swing down a staff swings up from underneath and knocks his hand (sending the dagger flying). Then Sebastien steps over Gianbattista and recovers from his upward swing {-4 penalty for caleld shot: swinging arm/weapon, +2 bonus for surprise, 13(11)}.
Sebastien yells (in Belcadiz Elvish): "Clain, WHAT IN THE HUECOS ARE YOU doing?!?" Sebastien is standing over GIanbattista.

What do you want to do/say?

to Clain,

Why did you do this?

As your rising, in one fluid motion you draw your dagger and with a backhanded swing lunge for Gianbattista's throat, just bearly missing by about a Petal (half an inch). {
-5 penalty for called shot: Neck, +2 bonus for surprise, 7(10)
}
You hear the commotion of everyone behind you jumping to their feet, Sebastien even blurts out (in Heavy Belcadiz Elvish): "Ay Caramba!".
You then reverse your swing back again and slice forward with a slight lunge. {
3(7)
} Gianabttista just bearly manages to stumble out of the way but he trips and falls over backwards onto the ground.
To take advantage of his prone position you raise your dagger over your head to swing down. In such a prone position you aren't very likely to miss at all and you begin your downstroke. During your down swing you see a staff swing in from the right and swing up into your downswing, crashing into your hand with a loud and painful impact that knocks the dagger from your hand, sending it flying. {
-4 penalty for caleld shot: swinging arm/weapon, +2 bonus for surprise, 13(11)
}. Sebastien follows the momentum of his swing and steps over Gianbattista, standing over him between you and as he recovers from his swing he yells at you (in Belcadiz Elvish): "Clain, WHAT IN THE HUECOS ARE YOU doing?!?"

How do you respond?

Week 54: Lunadain, Yarthmont 1st, AC1011, 1157

Clain had just attacked Gianbattista!

Kagemaru draws his khopesh as Gianbattista rises, obviously trying not to show how he is shaking with shock.
Kagemrau (in Elvish): "What by the Immortals is going on here?"
Gianbattista brushes himself of an then says to Clain with a smile (in Elvish): "Dear elf could I know why you acted so foolsih? Did I somehow wrong you, if it is so please accept my excuses, but I think you are just the confirmation of an old Caurenzian saying...(Switching to Caurenzian Thyatian)...'La madre dei cretini? sempre incinta'....."
Everyone looks to Clain, as Gianbattista address the rest of us as he walks over toward Brian and the Horses (Brian had drawn a small hatchet from the saddle bag unnoticed during the commotion)(in ELvish): "ok guys, calm your friend and let's go, we have still to finish our job...", he says as he's passing Kagemaru.

What do you want to do/say now

Week 55: Lunadain, Yarthmont 1st, AC1011, 1157

For consistant great role-playing in his replies, I am awarding Kagemaru a
2xp role-playing bonus (to be be split evenly among his two clasess).

For the same reason I am giving Gianbattista a 1xp role-playing bonus.

perhaps by instituting this bonus system I will be able to incourage the
rest of you to reply mroe often. It is of course completely Subjective on
my part but it is small enough of a bonus that that shouldn't be a
problem. James you occasionally have a good post then you dissapear for a
few weeks. And Mike, are you even out there?

As Gianbattista passes him (and proceedes toward the horses), Kagemaru sheath's his khopesh and, with a faintly audible sigh of releaf, says (in Elvish): "I just hope that none of us will argue amongst ourselves. It develops no profit and we only hurt each other."

While Kagemaru was speaking, Gianabttista has procedded to mount his horse and starts out slowly again along the trail. muttering "Come on" in Elvish just bearly loud enough to be heard.

What do you do/say?

Week 56: Lunadain, Yarthmont 1st, AC1011, 1340

Gianbattista and Brian are mounted and begining to prepare to ride out. Kagemaru & Sebastien are already on there way to the horses. Marcus Looks at clain (sebastien looks back at him too) before moveing to follow. Clain stays behind for a bit fuming, but then come along too as the rest of us start to leave.

As Sebastien & kagemaru come up to Gianbattista he says (in Elvish): "Thanks for your help Kagemaru and Sebastien, but I think that Clain will no longer attempt to so foolish actions and I'm sure he's remaininig silent until now only because is ashamed of himself for his attack..."

The rest of the trip to the estate, Gianbattista rides up ahead with Brian (on his left). We had thought the first part of the trip was uncomfortably quiet... This part is downright cold.

A little after 1pm, a meander around a rather large hill ends up curving all the way around so that were now heading North and about 1 1/2 chimes (30 min) later, after traveling over a trail & a path (4 miles), including traversing a rocky dry river-bed, we come upon some signs of civilization. The hills in this area are terraced and flooded with some sort of grain crop growing in them. The water is constantly moving, flowing from the terrace above in a waterfall, flowing through a terrace, before falling to the next terrace. Some of the waterfalls are only a leaf or two (feet) to some of the larger one falling what you would guess to be 7 or 8 leafs. The trails becomes much more pronounced more as it zigzags upward through the terraces and now some farmers huts, and we see the occasional farmer greet Brian in Anglais. After climbing up this zagging path for about half a chime, we come to a large flat area at the base of a tall cliff, probaly at least 20 leafs tall. The water for the terraces is flowing from somewhere atop the cliff and it falls in a beautiful waterfall to this area, and then flows in a small stream next to the ruins of a tower. Brian leads us over to what appears to be the rementants of a old stable (the roof is basically gone along with the wall closest to the tower ruins). All that is left of the tower appears to be the lower floor and parts of the second floor. The damage does not appear to be from the normall wear of time (the edges of whats left of the tower is jagged, and there are pieces of debris such as bricks scattered about the area arrayed in all directions)

We dismount and Brian leads the horses into the 'stable'. Gianbattista is still keeping his distance and is on the far side of the stable entrance.

Were obviously at the Tower of Lord Windsor's late father, from where we were comissioned to retrieve the ring.
What do you want to do/say?

Week 57: Email D&D, 1340, Yarthmont 1st, AC1011

Are my messages going through? no one responded, AGAIN!!!I can't keep
running this by my self! I contact you privately and you say your still
interested, but then no one responds to the weeks (although we were begining
to do fantastic there for a while). But out of 4 players, no one could
respond in 2 weeks time? Is it it something I'm doing? What is it that you
don't like? Tell me and I'll change it. this is the main problem of PBEM
D&Ding, you can't get any feedback on how the players are enjoying it. In a
face to face (aka tabletop) game, the DM can see the players and tell if
there enjoying it or if there getting confused or bored and the DM can
adjust. In a face-to-face game, the DM can see if one player is begining to
feel left out and can tweak the game to bring them back in. I can't do that
in a PBEM game, but if you tell me what's wrong, I can fix it. Or is it
something with the time frames? Is a week not enough time, too long time,
what? Is the game moving too slowly/too fast, what? Have I not 'gotten you
there' in your mind, do I need to work on that? Have you just plain lost
interest? If that last is the case, then let me know and I'll drop you
(just don't take this game as an example of D&D, because of all the problems
I talked about of a PBEM game opposed to a face-to-face game. If you have
never been in a face-to-face game of D&D with a GOOD DM, I strongly suggest
you try it at least once.). tell me what the problem is, PLEASE!!!!! If
your having a problem with something then others probaly are too (boy, do I
sound like a teacher now or what?) but I have found as both as a player and
a DM that feedback to the DM does help the group have more fun (personally
I'm really enjoying watching these wonderful characters you have created
interact with each other). We have several others waiting to join the game
at the right times (a few already have the characters all ready) and all
these times that no one replies only slows that down. Like I mentioned
earlier, I'm very much enjoying this game, which is why I don't mind putting
in all the time and effort it takes to run this, but I would like it better
if I knew everyone was having fun. Please, just tell me whats wrong or if
you just want to drop it or what.

on (hopefully) to this weeks segment of the game:

Your just outside the ruined tower of Lord Windsor's father, from when you have been hired to retrieve the ring. Bricks and other debries from the towers upper floors lay skattered about you on the 'shelf' at the base of the cliff with the stream. You remember that you were told that it [the ring] lies on the floor just inside the door in a pile of droppings and remains from a Lurker and the Lurker should be on the ceiling inside. From the stories you've heard of lurkers, they are oportunist hunters (but just animals), they drop down on unsuspecting prey from above and smother them with there wings (think more like a manta ray's wings than a birds) to kill them to eat them at there leisure.

Sebastien looks to Clain, Marcus, & Kagemaru and asks (in Belcadiz elvish): "So how should we do this?"

What do you want the paln to be? Asides from just mailing your reply to me,
feel free to discuss amongst yourselves (just cc it to me for the
transcript).

Week 58: Lunadain, Yarthmont 1st, AC1011, 1342

Gianbattista looks forward to Marcus, Clain, Kagemaru, and Sebastien and says (in ELvish): "So now it's your turn, heroes! I'm here with my swords, which are my pen and my sheets, to immortalize your actions. Now starts your path towards the glory."
Kagemaru thinks briefly then says (in Elvish): "We should split ourselves into teams of two. Go in at respective of the ruins and meet up at a point. We have to secure the area to make sure no 'surprises' happen. One thing's for certain... I hate surprises."
Everyone agrees and we begin looking around the tower for another entrance than the main door. It appears from the outside that the first floor is still intact, including the walls. The Tower is 50 or 60 feet wide and is built right upto (and possibly into) the basalt cliff. It would be round except for the cliff, but its more than just a half circle. You circle around the sides looking for a gap in the wall but as I said, the ground floor seems to intact. From the outside the damage appears to be limited to the upper floor or floors (there is not enough left to tell how many there were from the outside). Back towards the cliff, on both sides are some simple fences (one side damaged). The fences are crude, low wooden pickets. The area behind them appeared to just of been used for open air storage (like for garden tools or something). The only entrance you can see is the main door.
I'm attaching a crude map I drew of the tower and cliff, I just represented
the cliff with a straight line (other than those rampart things) and just
used dots and a few bricks for the debri field, but you should get the
idea.

After meeting back up in front, Gianbattista suggests (in Elvish): "ok guys, how about this... let's enter your 3 forward, Sebastien and I on the rear, youg Brian will wait here, if we arent going to return until 4 hours he will ride to Lord windsor to ask help..."
Sebastien considers it for a moment, then says (in ELvish): "Sounds good, since this things probaly going to be on the ceiling. Have Marcus in the lead with his long sword and spells, Clain on his flank with his bow ready, Kagemaru on the other flank, and I'll bring up the rear with a magical stone spell..." turning to Marcus Kagemaru now "Unless you two have some magic that might be usefull differently," readressing everyone "that sounds like a good plan... What do you think?

Gianbattista adds (in Elvish): "Every plan could result workable, the most important thing is that we will have to remain strong-hearted and friendly among us...however that Sebastien suggested souded good...I don't have magical abilities and I'm not well in hand to hand combat, but my strenght is based upon wit, so I'll stay near Sebastien, ready to help you"

Kagemaru adds
:
"I hope to be of your worthy of your faith," I say in Elvish "I hope by the stars I will not fail you."

I then proceed to put my hands together in prayer, and to gather all of my magical energies.

"I hope I don't fail" I whisper under my breath.

His wording was to good to edit, so I included it as is...

Week 59: Lunadain, Yarthmont 1st, AC 1011, 1343

Ok, well this is a few hours late (of course counting the time zone
difference, its not for most of you) but I was waiting fo r a reply from
one last player. I never did get the reply so this will only be a part of
a weeks until that one palyer (you know who you are) replies (Tomorrow
RIGHT?). I'll send the rest of this weeks after he replies so you don't
have anything to do this week yet.

Also, welcome aboard to our new lurker.

on to the first part of this weeks segment.

It's decided on the formation we'll be going in. Marcus will be taking the lead with his Longsword and spells at the ready, Clain will be taking the left flank with his bow prepared, Kagemaru will be on the right flank, and Sebastien will bring up the rear with a magic stone spell prepared, and Gianbattista close enough behind to record the whole event.

We ready ourselves and approach the main door of the tower. As was to be expected, it has swelled with abandonment age & moisture, but Marcus & Clain are able to force it open fairly quietly. We casausly step inside the door way. From the inside we can see that the back corner of the roof of the first floor has collapsed, which is probaly how this lurker got inside as it's just the right size. There is a thick layer of dust everywhere and it is visible in the air in the light comng in from that corner and from the doorway behind us and cobwebs are visible in several places. A stairway winds up the back wall to a hatch/door in the roof (obviously to the former second floor). Right in front of the entranceway (which isn't much of an intrance way, probaly only a foot or two long) is a small pile of clothes, bones, and pieces of metal. You don't have any more time to look around as Marcus motions for everyone to stop and he points to the ceiling right outside the entreway (were still standing in the entryway). The lurker is there on the ceiling, It looks like a giant Manta Ray whose back is designed just like the bricks of the ceiling (I'll try to scan and upload the image sometime)

Marcus wispers (in Elvish): "There it is, right where he said it would be..... It knows where here but it doesn't know we see it. The creature waits until its prey walks unsuspecting underneath, then drops down and smothers it to death..... Everyone get ready, if we hit it at the same time we should be able to shock it and drive it away if not kill it outright."
