Me and My Life

Hey everyone, my names Luke Im a student at Portsmouth university (UK) studying Software Engineering. When Im not out with my mates or (believe it or not) studying I attempt to write games and applications using openGL

I started coding about 3 years ago, when I aquired a cover CD containing a copy of Delphi 2. After about a month of playing with Delphi and a little Smalltalk I forgot all about coding. Then one day while browsing the shelves in a newsagents (no not the top one) I came across another cover CD, this time carrying Borland C++ Builder. I decided to actually learn a language instead of copying and pasting from help files and seeing what happened. After a brief search for C++ I discovered NeHe. I found his tutorials and realised that I could actually write games with that Borland thing. So me in my infinite wisdom decided not only to learn C++ but also OpenGL and 3D math at the same time and all via Nehe (it never occured to me to look elsewhere for the c++ tutorials) 2 years down the line, I still havent written the FPS I had intended, but ive had a lot of fun and learnt a lot.

So now ive finished a 2 year college course in computing and im onto another 3 year one in software engineering, and I can safely say im having the best time of my entire life. Ive found the greatest friends in the Halls of Residence, Its not often you get mixed with a large group of people and not only make one or two best friends but around 15! Theres always stuff to do so coding does sorta get interrupted quite often. Its not often you meet a coder with a social life is it :)

Anyway, the aim of this site is for me to give a little back to the community and it gives me somewhere to put my projects that need testing ;) Expect articles and tutorials when I have the time. And well other stuff too.

Just one thing before I sign off, I want to thank the guys at Harry Law for making my time at uni the best ever!

Bye for now.
