So you would like to know how to read Tablatures huh?
Well then you've to the right place. Tablatures have been the easiest way for people to
learn how to play songs. And that is what we are here for today, to help you the understand how to read and understand
Tablatures. It's quiet simple and shouldn't take to long to understand. Tablatures tabulators can be for any stringed
instrument.
Right now I will discuss with you only the guitar, but bass guitar, suitor and other stringed instruments will
fallow. Most guitars that have 6 strings are tuned E A D G B E (from low to high). To read a tablature the low
E string is the bottom. e.g.
e-----------------------(Highest string)
a-----------------------
d-----------------------
G-----------------------
B-----------------------
E-----------------------(Lowest string)
The numbers that are on the strings of a tabulator indicate what fret to put your finger
at on that strings. Here is another example:
e------------------------
a------------------------
d------------------------
G------1-3-4-3-1---------
B--2-3-----------3-3-2-3-
E------------------------
(Intro to Offspring "Come Out And Play")
First you would put your finger on the second fret of the second string. Then you would
put your finger on the third fret of the second strong. Then move your finger to the first fret of the third string
and so on. Remember that the typical guitar fret goes up to 22 so if you see:
e--------------
b--------------
g--------------
D--------------
A--------------
E-----15-------
then put your finger on the 15th fret of the first string. Most guitar manufactures inlay
single dots on frets 3,5,7,9 double dots on fret 12 the single dots on frets 15,17,19,21. This is to help you in
remembering where the frets are.
