thumbinternationalvelvet.jpg (5699 bytes)First up is the newest album by Catatonia; International Velvet. I kept hearing their songs on the radio and I found out that Cerys Williams (the singer), has a really distinctive voice. So I do the next best thing - buy the album 3 months after I initially wanted to buy it. The album really blew me away. The lyrics are comical even senseless at times ('goldfish and paracetamol'?) yet, the songs will get 'in' you really soon. I played this album days in a row and it still gets to me.By the way, this is their 4th album. A 'pick-me-up' kinda CD.

Songs that would eventually blow up my CD player if I dun stop playing them again & again & again...

Track 1 - Mulder and Scully; Track 2 - Game on; Track 3 - I am the Mob (shiok!); Track 4 - Road rage; Track 6 - Goldfish and Paracetamol (SPCA approved); Track 10 - Don't need the Sunshine

_version2.jpg (11325 bytes) I bought this like a few months after it came out - hey, economic crisis man!I thought 'Push It' was so cool until I heard the rest of the tracks. Shirley Manson's voice has a rawness/desperation to it this time. Despite all the techno stuff, the songs still sounds darker than their previous album. Kudos to them for making me bang my head in front of my PC for hours. Now all that I need to make it complete is Garbage coming down here... I missed them last time... I know, I know, me=eeediot!

cdcover.gif (12746 bytes)What an album! It's filled with hip-hop, rap, indie, alternative, indie rock AND good ol' noisy rock! I bought this album initially for the Missy Elliot track in it (her 'Supa Dupa Fly' album is not sold here). What I got is this eclectic (sp?) mix of tracks from Busta Rhymes to Matthew Sweet to Guns N' Roses! This is no 'surprise' knowing the movie itself is about 'teenagers coming of age'. I can't wait to watch the movie to see where all the songs fit in. I saw clips of the movie and so far, the scenes crack me up (I'm not a fan of Jennifer Love Hewitt though). You see the guy with the goggles? He's damn funny! In the movie, he's this guy with a 'black' voice who wanna lose his virginity on 'THE Night' (I think). I love this compilation!

Songs that would eventually blow up my CD player if I dun stop playing them again & again & again...

Track 2 - Smash Mouth's 'Can't Get Enough Of You Baby'; Track 6 - Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott's 'Hit 'Em Wit Da Hee'; Track 10 - Feeder's 'High'; Track 11- Black Lab's 'Tell Me What To Say'; Track 15 - Guns N' Roses's 'Paradise City'

Can't Hardly Wait - the official website of the movie. Java heavy. Need Macromedia's Shockwave to see it to its full effects.
