Daily News

These overlays are used during daily news sessions so that students can "type" their own news. The breakfast overlay was added to the list when breakfast became a popular topic. We left the news overlay open ended, however more overlays will be added to the series as our students progress. I have just added the non-repeating function to the keys. Remember, these overlays are for the Mac.

1. Days of the week - Two buttons on the left side for "Today is " and "Tomorrow is". Days of the week from Monday to Saturday are on the Left. ( I left out Sunday due to size constrictions and the fact that we don't go to school on Saturdays.)

2. Weather - Various combinations of weather conditions can be achieved. We don't have snow, so that button is absent. There is no picture for "cloudy" but you can either draw it on or use cotton wool.

3. News - Goes from left to right, starting with the time the news occured, e.g. Yesterday, Today, Last Night, Tomorrow. Our children only talk about themselves, so they choose "I", "we" or "my" from the next row of buttons. You sometimes need to use the keyboard to do this. Next are the action buttons:- "saw", "went to", "played" etc. You will then need the keyboard to finish off the sentence.

4. Breakfast - Not part of the original group, this overlay was developed when everyone suddenly wanted to talk about breakfast. Feel free to change the foods.
