Also stenciling works best when the students use sponges and not brushes. Make sure the use a minimum of paint and blot lightly over the stencils.
I have done a similar activity when making my own personal gifts. You can
get special paint in most good art and craft store. I use a brand called
Glossies and I find a little goes a long way. I have painted
vases, large tiles for pot stands and also coffee mugs. The paints are non-toxic,
however they do state that the paint should not be placed in areas where
it will come in contact with the mouth, for example dinner plates and also
the rim area and inside of mugs.
