Latest update: July 5th, 2002

well, it's a sad day, folks. Baseball hero Ted Williams has died at the age of 83. One of the best hitters of all time has passed on just as the state of baseball needs him the most. Team Hemingway is also proud as new parents to introduce our new guitar player, Brad to augment Frizzell's wanking. (Guitar wanking, that is) He's so new (although I've known him for a while) that I don't even know his last name. He (unfortunately) also lives in the dreaded Valley and he played guitar in the Lewinskys with Walker in the past. He won't be able to make it to the show tomorrow, but everything's working out swimmingly, so look for him at shows in the near future. Also, check the shows page for some more locations where you can see The Hemingways display their unique "what the fuck was that?" live show. Aloha for now, more comprehensive updates soon to follow. James. Don't be mistaken for the enemy.

 Update: June 24th, 2002

It's been a while, but here's some news for all you rock and rollers. We just played at the Marquee on Saturday with the Dean Malenkos (who are fucking awesome - go buy "Arse Capades" now) and Hell City Love, who kicked ass and took no prisioners as usual. Their EP is out really soon so keep an eye out for it. We also played at the Heelwalker thingy at Hell a couple of weeks ago and were introduced to our first official heckler. This fucker in all of his punk regalia comes up to me IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SET and tells me we're the third band in a row that "sounds exactly like the Ramones." I said "I don't agree but so what?" and he replies  "that's not a good thing." So I go on a big rant telling this asshole off (I was pretty loaded) and then we played  Blitzkreig Bop so the fucker can suck on that tongue-in-cheek humor. First of all, we don't sound a whole lot like the Ramones - we sound more like them when Dave's drumming (which he was that night) but we really don't. The other bands he was talking about were The Heelwalkers and Hell City Love neither of which sound ANYTHING remotely like the Ramones. Not even close. So that fucker either had no clue what the hell he was talking about and just shooting his mouth off, or he was trying to be the "punkest" person in the room  and introduce some type of Ramones backlash. No wonder punk scenes implode so often. Congratulations fucker on making an ass of yourself. Oh by the way... my windshield needs cleaning. Check the shows page for upcoming events - we've got quite a bit lined up, including an all-ages show in Halifax on July 6th with Dead Red, Thrownaside and Tufts Cove. We also have a tentive show at the Khyber Club in Halifax with Hell City Love in August (I think) and we'll be playing the Heelwalker Jamboree again in the next couple of weeks, so stay tuned. More pics will be up soon when I actually get to a scanner. The momentum is shifting. The agents are in place. Don't be mistaken for the enemy.  James.

 UPDATE!!!: JUNE 1st, 2002

Holy shit. Sorry for the lack of updates, but it's been a busy week in The Hemingways' camp and I actually got a job, so that's been distracting me. Anyway, the CDEP is now fully posted in the sounds section. Go there, then click on the clearly identified link to hear it all for free. Then go buy it to be cool. We played a great show in North Sydney with Dead Red and Thrownaside and had a blast. We also played the Heelwalker Jamboree at the Marquee with th e Heelwalkers, King Konqueror, and the former Kid Gorgeous. It fucking rocked everyone and everythin within a 10 mile radius. More details and pics will be up soon. (Sorry, I'm in a rush here) Shows are tentively line up for July 6th at The Pavilion in Halifax with Dead Red, Thrownaside, and Bury Your Dead from Rhode Island. Also, August 3rd in North Sydney at the X with sex rock gods Blackout 77 from Halifax and others. The end of July or beginning of August looks like a trip to PEI with Hell City Love (the former Kid Gorgeous) for both a bar and all-ages show and then relaxing on the beach in a cottage. Beware of the insurgency. James.

UPDATE: MAY 21st, 2002

The EP is out!! Russian Spy Records just got it back from the dude and it's fucking great! Go buy the self-titled EP now! See below for more details on where to buy this bad boy. Songs are also posted in the "sounds" section for you web geeks who want some download action.

UPDATE: MAY 20th, 2002

Well, the show in the Valley got postponed due to venue problems, but look for Team Hemingway to visit some dank shithole down there soon. Bug R.P. for more info. See you at the show in North Sydney on Saturday the 25th. (see the shows page)

ALSO!!! ONE MORE MOTHAFUCKING DAY UNTIL THE EP IS RELEASED!!!!

Get your grubby hands on it at CD Plus on Barrington in Halifax or e-mail us! The time has arrived, all is set...

 UPDATE: MAY 14th, 2002

I've posted some more pics in the bio and picture sections so check out our sexy marketing tools as they  rock out, or just kicking back having a cocktail or two. Dave Brown will be sitting in for Ryan Walker on the kit for our show in North Sydney on the 25th, so lock up your teenage (or preteen - Dave doesn't care) daughters! The EP is off to the manufacturer, so we're all ready for the CD release on the 21st. CD Plus on Barrington St. (employers of such fine young men as Fabian of Dead Red and Matt of the former Kid Gorgeous) in Halifax will be carrying it, so cough up your pennies - the sounds will rile the masses.
UPDATE: MAY 9th, 2002

The Hemingways have some important news for all you rock and rollers. The debut EP has finally been completed and the artwork is in its final stages. The formal release date will be Tuesday, May 21st, but it will be available for purchase at our show in MIddleton, N.S. on Saturday, May 18th at our CD release party. See the shows page for more details. The self-titled EP will be released by the good people at RUSSIAN SPY RECORDS. The record was done at Evil Eye productions in Halifax and was engineered and mixed by Francis Hall of Dead Red fame. Speaking of Dead Red, they are going on the road with The Hemingways on Saturday, May 25th to play an all day all-ages festival in North Sydney, N.S. It should be a fantastic time, as we've always had good experiences with the CB Locals crowd.  Once again, see the shows page for more details.
The EP consists of 4 songs that were actually written quite a while ago, and its release is intended to build momentum for the full-length which should follow in the next few months. Plans are almost finalized as to who and where the recording will be done, but we might go with another label, and see how much cash we can scrape together so we can give the people what they want. The strategies and plans are on a need-to-know basis right now but stay tuned for more transmissions. More shows will also be following the release in the Halifax area, with tentative plans in the works for a jaunt to Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, and PEI. The site is just getting off the ground, so the pics section as well as some mp3s will be up soon. Stay alert. Stay focused on the mission.
